( ♬ )       Every time he visits, he visits with flowers. His beard is overgrown                and he’s gone gray at the temples — he looks old. Underweight.               A broken man; alone in the world, at last. He’d always asked for               that. Always claimed he needed space when what he really needed               was comfort. 

               There’s no one left to give him that. 

               He is the only one of their former friends to visit the grave. Jean               used to come on holidays and birthdays, just to say, “I miss you”.               A couple of kids later and it was as if he never existed. His father               didn’t attend the funeral and his sister has a child to raise, so it’s —                it’s rare.
