Not only am I not getting notifications for a chat with a friend, it also won't let me post today's AUgust?

I'll try again tomorrow, don't worry, but for now we can have some sorta sad Farah/Hadir (with a hint of FarAlex) thoughts.

Y'all ever wonder if Farah thinks about Hadir?

Never on purpose, just... There. In her mind. The boy turned man who had been by her side the whole time, obviously she'd think about him!

He's not her brother anymore, she stands by that, but he was.

The moment that it really hits her is after the wedding ceremony.

It was beautiful. Flowers, music, drinks. It wasn't big, but it was hers. Everyone was there too. Price was tearing up and couldn't stop crying at every moment, Gaz danced with her, even her soldiers came to provide support and make sure she feels safe (think: that one scene from wreck-it-ralph at the end).

People were missing obviously.

No father to walk her down the aisle (though Laswell offered and ended up doing so), no extended family, so many soldiers and allies that were killed in battle. Just her, her husband, and her friends.

But there's one that she couldn't shake off.

Her brother.

She honestly never fantasized about getting married, she never had time. When you're more focused on not getting murdered, you don't exactly focus on romance.

From child caught in a war, to a woman leading a rebellion, she didn't have time for crushes. She fought. She kept her brothers and sisters safe and she never complained.

But then Alex showed up and turned her life around...

She still remembers the moment she realized he was more than an ally- the moment he became someone she could trust. It was back before Hadir had betrayed her, back when Alex was still the white boy from the navy.

Hadir had given him his gun.

The same weapon he had spent nights customizing, bringing to perfection. He loved that thing. It was his.

And he just handed it to Alex like it was nothing.

Maybe that's why after the ceremony, the dancing and the drinks, she found herself out here. Looking out at the night sky.

She didn't flinch when he approached, simply falling into her husband's arms.

"Price is looking for you, wanted to give one last congratulations before he leaves. He's gotta get Kyle to bed, poor guy drank too much and now he's cryin' over colors."

"Mhm..."

He hesitated for a moment, clearly considering his next words.

"He... He would be happy for you, y'know that?

Farah froze, breath hitching slightly. She let him continue,

"He had asked me to care for you, to keep you safe. If he was here, I think he'd be proud at how much you've grown- how happy you are."

She couldn't stop the tears from welling up, a quiet choked sound coming from the back of her throat. She simply turned and buried her face in Alex's chest, finally letting herself cry.

And as always, he held her up.

She didn't know how long they stayed like that, how long she cried, but it felt good either way.

For once she didn't have to be commander Karim, she could just be Farah.
