this new episode has me STRESSING about trinity

i just wish that trinity could tell dennis about how she feels, i don’t think she can handle it much longer if she doesn’t talk to anyone :((

i feel like dennis knows something is definitely wrong but he doesn’t wanna make her feel uncomfortable. he did try to bring it up but trinity kind of deflected it? she brought up the roommate situation and how robby wants dennis to house sit for him and she said it in a way that made it obvious that she doesn’t want to be alone.

dennis asking about garcia also hit hard, since garcia told her that “if you wanna have sex and eat ramen in bed, i’m your girl. but if you wanna talk more about this langdon bullshit, get a therapist.” (from my memory) from my perspective, i did agree that trinity needs to try to calm down a little from hating langdon and start trying to forgive him, but i feel that garcia could’ve said it in a nicer, less blunt way.

now, with garcia out of the SHORT list of people trinity can talk to, of course she feels isolated. the scene where she stares at the scalpels way too long, even getting one, as well as the scene where we see her s/h scars really made me cry because nobody deserves for that to happen to them :(

I've been working on this story since 2021, which I feel the need to share not because the time investment means the story is super polished and finally perfect now — in fact, it's pretty much the opposite — but because I think it'll help to set expectations for the work itself. After coming up with the concept and first draft (in collaboration with my lovely boyfriend), I spent the first couple years of this project trying to live up to my own ambitious vision of what I felt this story should become. "It should be a graphic novel with perfectly written dialogue, professional quality inks and colouring, and panels that flow together beautifully" I thought, and to be fair, I do think I'm perfectly capable of this — at least if skill were the only factor at play. Unfortunately, it's not, and long story short I ended up burning myself out trying to make this story as perfect as I wanted it to be.

Over the years I keep coming back to it though. For all the stress this particular story has given me, I do wholeheartedly love it, my characters, and the world they inhabit; I've never stopped drawing them or writing about them! So, armed with my somewhat outdated script and pages upon pages of thumbnails (thank you to my younger self), I'm ready to tackle Get Well Soup again — this time with a healthier and more forgiving outlook on the project.

Instead of making a book of perfectly polished pages, my plan now is simply to create and share the story in whatever way I can most readily do so. Some pages will likely end up being "unfinished" — a collection of annotated sketches, text descriptions of what happens (with spot art if I can manage it), or the like — while others might be more like the lined and coloured pages you'd expect from a comic-like medium.
