Art by Valeria Bossa The three Yaban sexes, represented by Basra Reika (gamale), Ral Gungarus (male), and Sol Yulaan (female) respectively. Males are called Nagois (lit. "Warrior/Crusher Person") Females are called Bollois (lit. "Industrial/Heavy Labor Person") Gamales are called Yenois (lit. "Breeder/Mother Person") * "-oi" is the gendered term for person in the Yeren language. "-jin" is a more generic term. For example, most bollois are also warriors and plenty of nagois are laborers. Nagois and bollois are of very roughly equivalent strength, being around 30x stronger than the average human male on average. Yenois are roughly about 2x to 4x the strength of an average human male. Yabans are extremely dense, with the average nagoi weighing over one ton and the average bolloi ranging between 1,800 and 2,200 pounds. Yulaan, who is 5'3" as an adult (unusually short for a bolloi), weighs 1,825 pounds secular. This weight amplifies their raw power. However, thanks to their ability to manipulate qi, they can adjust their weight to persist in more fragile environments. Technically Yabans need only males and females to procreate, but their insanely low sex drive and insanely high ultraviolence makes this a poor gambit to survive. The Yaban god Getavara anticipated this and created yenois as a way to keep the species numbers high without sacrificing their raw warrior aggression or increasing their capacity for sexuality. Yenois are hermaphroditic and can reproduce quasi-asexually. Even if the other Yabans were sexier, bollois are unlike women in a critical way— they have estrous cycles, not menstrual ones, meaning on top of their general sexlessness, they also literally are not capable of becoming pregnant for very long stretches of time. Yeren legend tells that once upon a time, bollois were actually female yenois, but one named Khorijin snuck into war and was crippled to the point of total sensory loss, trapped in a body detached from the outside world. But rather than accept her place, Khorijin simply willed herself back to a battle ready state via qigong awakening, attaching her broken body to armor and going out into battle to be slain properly. Getavara was so amazed at the fanatical iron will of this female warrior that He uplifted all the female yenois into a new class called bollois, tripling their natural strength. In their place, He created yenois as dedicated breeders, vastly weaker than nagois and bollois if still laden with a Yaban warrior spirit. It's debatable as to whether this is even remotely true, but it reflects the gendered realities of Yaban life.
