The Rules of Good Ghosting: How to be the best Ghost you can be
(The Ghosts of Azshara Official Guild Rules)
-Greetings, welcome, and I hope you werenât followed! The Ghosts are a relaxed and opened minded guild, but you are expected to follow SOME rules! We get it if you donât want to spend time reading this novel but if thatâs the case please observe the bolded text and each section has itâs important takeaway in red for those inclined to skim-
~General Conduct and OOC~
-These apply to guildees and non-guildees. We want to foster a comfy guild environment, Â a respectable guild image, and a healthy community. So help us out and take a look!-
No Elitism: There are roughly 7 billion people on this planet. Everyone sees everything differently. We arenât here to decide who is right or wrong about anything, weâre here to pretend weâre elves for a little bit together. Whether itâs roleplay or PvP prowess, this guild is an open forum where differing opinions and ways of enjoying the game are respected. Have your opinion, donât expect everyone else to do it your way.
No Bigotry: A videogame can be a poor forum for weighty topics such as who is evil, despicable or generally âdoinâ it wrongâ in the world. People play games for recreation, so letâs keep the atmosphere fun. We wouldnât presume to tell you what to believe about the world, but keep it to yourself in all public guild dealings. Bigotry of all sorts (race, sexuality, politics, favorite color) isnât tolerated in guild chats, raids, or Teamspeak. If you wanna send your buddy a tell about how much you hate Periwinkle Blue, have at it. We donât wanna see it.
Follow the ToS: Weâre playing Blizzardâs game, so Iâd follow their rules. If youâre ever curious if something youâve done might be breaking the ToS, ask an officer or check the offical WoW website. If you wanna glitch through a wall to have an adventure in Metzenâs secret muffin vault, we donât care, but botting, hacking, and exploiting in ways that interfere with other players arenât tolerated.
Generally Respect People: Vague I know, but some people have a problem with being hailed by âHEY @#$%HEADâ or being informed that theyâre â@#$%IN STOOPID LOLâ. We all agreed to be here. I know everyone has different standards, but maintain a general level of respect you think would enable you to interact with most other humansâŚproductively.
-There will be a seperate RP write up detailing the guildâs theme and history, character profiles, stories, and arty goodness! If you EVER need help with RP in general or how your character fits in with the Ghosts, let us know!-
Keep OOC and IC Seperate: Some people are more immersed than others in their RP. They may play a toon that exemplifies themselves, or RP how theyâre feeling that moment. Some play a toon nothing like themselves and use RP to express things generally considered fantastical IRL (gyrating goblin escort robots launching champagne missiles at your rude Forsaken) Please seperate OOC and IC, their character being dramatic isnât an attack on YOU personally.
No Godmodding or Metagaming: To make roleplay easier for everyone, there is a common ground we all meet onâŚthat is cannon lore and mutual respect of eachotherâs RP. If there are two Warchiefâs of the Horde walking around, people will get confused real fast! Also, nobody wants someone else playing their toon for them. Ask permission before deciding to do something that would dramatically change their RP! No one would make it out of the inn if anyone who wanted to could just instantly kill them.
Keep Erotic Roleplay Private: We arenât going to pretend ERP doesnât exist, and we arenât going to call it âtabooâ. But realize some of it may break the ToS (game is rated TEEN not XXX), itâs SEVERELY (publicly..) frowned upon by this serverâs RP community, and I guarentee people will find you and watch. They will take screenshots and attempt to humiliate you and the guild, so keep it safe and private and HEY-how did you get naked in the time it took me to write that? What a champion.
Sort of Follow Lore (there was no Dragon Aspect of Twerking): Look, this gameâs story is huge and complex. Cannon can often be confused and some previous lore is broken or shoddy for in game mechanics. We arenât RP elitists, we know people enjoy RP different ways and for different reasons and we want you to wow us with interesting and creative stories. Â But people can be lore sticklers, so for yours and the guilds sake, ground your RP in lore and do some research. You can always ask the guild for help too!
A special note: Donât ruin other peoples fun! This technically falls under âElitismâ and âRespectâ but I feel the need to reiterate. This guild wants RPers of all walks of life to find a home. If you donât like someone elseâs RP, you donât have to RP with them! Walk away! Rediculous blacklisting, exclusion, and derision of otherâs RP is FROWNED UPON SEVERELY. Let them have their fun, they pay the same $15 a month as you.
-PvP is a topic we plan to tackle in a specific way and perhaps too complex for a simple rule list. There will be a seperate write up on the Ghostâs PvP philosophy including guidelines and tips! As always if you need any help please contact an officer-
Donât zerg EVERâŚunless there is a specific IC reason or you are defending yourself from a player(s) attacking your larger group: This server has garnered a reputation for mindless, lackluster zerg WPvP. Itâs the Ghostâs opinion that skill isnât demonstrated by how many people you can stack into a raidâŚwe arenât that kind of guild. Try your best keep numbers even unless there is an RP reason or youâre defending yourself, people will respect you for it. WE KNOW many guilds wonât give us the same courtesy, but letâs not be part of the problem!
PvP is not everyoneâs forte, so keep it fair to make it fun for everyone: People exhibit varying levels of interest in PvP, some even generally avoid it when they can. RememberâŚno elitism. If weâre facing an enemy who isnât experienced, isnât confident, or even reluctantâŚrespect that and give them a chance. We will have no one left to fight if no one has fun fighting us. Similarly, if you arenât happy with a guildees performance, try helping them out instead of reminding them they arenât as good as you think you are.
Excessive spamming and âPwningâ will make you look like a griefer or zerg guildeeâŚso donât go overboard: Swaglording on your opponent with a quick flurry of well placed /spits and teabagging is a time honored PvP tradition, but on an RP realm itâs going to make us look like griefers. Some people come to this realm just to WPvP and ignore the RP, so to make sure people know we arenât like that, keep spammming, teabagging, and camping to a tasteful and classy minimum. Or prefferably donât do it at all.
The guild tends to be mature (18+) in content but please donât scare people off: The officership loves a good human anatomy joke, but your newly recruited guildy may blush. Please keep the craziness under wraps until other people seem to feel comfortable, we want all types of people to find enjoyment here.
Sillyness is ok, griefing is not: Donning booty shorts, sandals and a water gun then dowsing a group of dour blood elves is funny. Becoming a giant yak and sauntering slowly along the pier to Flemmish throat singing is also funny. But if you do it too much and too often people will feel griefed, so keep it to a healthy and respectful level please.
Roleplay at your own pace, but make sure you do it, weâre on a roleplay AND PvP realm: Some preffer PvP, some preffer RPâŚbut this is an RP-PvP guild on an RP-PvP server. If you want to RP casually thatâs fine, but you are expected to do it. There are plenty of PvP only guilds to enjoy on ED.
A note on Political Correctness: As stated, this guild is open minded and relaxedâŚsome people may blow your mind with their edginess. Alternatively, you may find your controversial jokes make a bad first impression on some people who will then hate you forever. PCness isnât mandatory, but be smart about it guys. Everyone has their own âlineâ so respect that.
Respect the Officership: I guess this counts as general respect, but just a note: tweaking an owner of the guild is a bad ideaâŚICly or OOCly. Hell, even in any other game or real life. If you donât preffer a certain officer, then work with a different one. Weâre chill, but it shouldnât shock you if refusing to obey or insulting and officer gets you in trouble.
