New charges for Gudkov: State Duma ethics committee will scrutinize his Freedom house speech on the subject of state treason.
The application to the State Duma ethics commitee to estimate the behaviour of D. Gudkov was signed by the representatives of the all four parties.
In the application it is stated that "D. Gudkov hadn`t submitted his decision to participate in the international conference to the approval of the State Duma administration. Neither had he got an approval of his Just Russia party fraction (of Sergey Mironov, who called him a betrayer later). At the same time, he`d booked the tickets well beforhand and that meant, he`d been preparing for it for a long time.
The deputies also accused Gudkov of spreading "for official use only" information(they meant FSB direction letter). They assessed his behaviour is an evidence of deliberate violation of information security, which taking into account his " active cooperation" with US athorities representatives can result in national security damages".
One of the four deputies that signed the paper Sergey Zhelezniak (United Russia) said that Gudkov`s statements in his US speech can be regarded as appeal to the US athorities to interfere with Russian internal policy.
I think it`s high time one watched the video
Dmitry Gudkov explained his "suspicious" English speech at Freedome House conference.
On his twitter D. Gudkov has gone into details on how exactly he compiled and traslated his "written by a native speaker" address. Gudkov published the story of him with his aid Sasha Saveliev e-mail correspondence on the matter. He said, that at first he recorded his speech on i-phone during his trip to Ryazan, 25 February. After that he sent it in two e-mails to his aid who had to decipher it (Gudkov posted the whole Russian transcript). Then he edited it and traslated the considerable part to English. Saveliev helped him to translate it to the end and substituted some words. On board the plane Gudkov finished the speech and slightly remade it. He also mentioned that Vladimir Soloviev(pro-government TV anchor) disapproved the speech(but I didn`t know this story and if it means that Gudkov showed his speeach to Soloviev beforhand...or it`s a some kind of joke..however, Soloviev tweeted "I`m sorry" for not liking it)).
What Gudkov was waiting for? I believe, he should have explained everything at the time, when he had been accused of "recieving instructions". He might have felt it was rather humilating to justify himself in the face of such crazy charges, but linguistic experise, party`s chairman believing in it...had to get used to Russian politics.
