Hmmm I think he’d be just as upset that he couldn’t find Tim as he was when he couldn’t find Dick’s spirit either. I also think he and Aris would go in search of Tim? Recruit Injustice!Nightwing, or any spirits from the multiverse, if they could. Probably both get extremely injured in the process, causing Bruce to worry like heck.

But also - I feel like he might be able to hear Tim, like shouting in the void? Like it’s an echo, but he can hear him, so knows Tim isn’t dead. Or if he is, Damian can still rescue him. He probably works himself silly, and Aris gets hella worried about him.

Aw, thank you! Every time someone messages me about that fic I get so nostalgic haha. Still my fave I’ve ever written! 

I think Damian would probably hold off telling Jon about Aris until their friendship was cemented. And even then, he might be sheepish about it. 

Aris would be SO protective. Especially early on. He’d peck at Jon’s head constantly - though especially if he was mean to Damian - and never leave him alone. Always sitting on Damian’s shoulder, watching Jon suspiciously. Jon suggests the cape so he knows when the bird is there. Is weirded out when Damian talks to it, and the bird actually responds. 

But then Damian tells him and Jon understands a lot more. He apologizes to Aris, and tries to include him a little bit. Next thing they all know, Aris and Jon are almost besties, and both very protective of Damian. 

Are you talking about the scene in the battle with Talia? I’m gonna assume so, and go with that. 

Had he not gotten there in time to stop Talia from stabbing Damian, Damian definitely would have gone to purgatory and/or hell. And yeah, the fam - after defeating Talia and her army - would go with Injustice!Nightwing and Aris to get their lil baby the fuck back. 

One problem would be, though, do they go as the ghosts they were at the time, or go back to their bodies, then go? I think it’d be decided that going back to their physical bodies would take too much time, so they stay as is, since getting into hell would probably be a lot less obvious, and it might be harder to detect them if they stayed as ghosties etc etc. 

HOWEVER. That comes at a cost. Because the pro of the situation is - through trials and tribulations, they get Damian back ‘safely.’ The con? It takes time. A lot of time. And by the time they get back to the manor, the family has been out of their bodies for too long, and the bodies have physically decomposed too much for them to be able to get back into them. 

So basically - they’re all dead now too. 

haha good! Everyone claims I’m good at/they like the emotional stuff I write, but honestly that might be the most emotional thing I ever wrote, and is probably the fic I wish I was most known for, and would honestly give all the other fics up, for people to read that one.

And ME TOO. Dick being so worried and so guilty about what happened to Damian, knowing it was his fault Damian did what he did, that once again, Damian was risking EVERYTHING just to protect him. He wasn’t gonna let Damian be killed, not again, not for him again, not ever. 

I wonder how many nights that kept him up, worrying about Damian, if the Court set off the bombs in his brain just to fuck with him. Afraid every time he got a contact from the family, because, what if it’s them telling them Damian’s dead again? What if it’s them absolutely shattered, saying Damian just keeled over, or fucking blew up and no one knows what happened?!

The way even Tiger and Midnighter approached the subject, they were so sympathetic and so gentle about it, so clearly they knew about the situation and what happened and what was at stake. They probably knew how terrified Dick was for his littlest brother.

aww thank you! That makes me so happy, like you don’t even know. :3 The Ghosts That We Knew ‘verse got me through such a hard time when I was writing about it, and even now I think about it a lot. I miss writing it. I miss those characterizations. 

And honestly, I wasn’t on tumblr when I started it! I think I joined Tumblr around chapter 34 haha. It started on ff.net, imagine that haha.

Jason would be an absolute wreck. Worse than how he was in Broken Hearts & Shattered Minds. Thankfully, though, Damian dying is not a thing I plan on having happen in this AU, basically ever. However, for a glimpse of how Jason might act, I suggest Worst Nightmare, which is as close to actually killing Damian in this ‘verse as I’ll get.
