2. Maybe you don't agree with a woman's right to choose but at least we don't have a full-page legal ad in the back of People magazine of all places talking about going bankrupt or diddling kids.

Prepare citizens! Or really, you should’ve BEEN prepared! How many of you were just wishing for this season to happen, just like it happens every year, but you forget the actual timing?! Well, wonder no longer! The scouts are selling cookies once again! Until the end of the month.

Girl Scouts has made a huge difference in my life, and I'm viewing this new initiative by the Boy Scouts with great skepticism. I strongly believe that girls need a space of their own to develop leadership skills and learn. The Girl Scouts has 105 years of experience creating programming for girls and helping girls grow into the leaders of the future.

The Girl Scout program is designed and proven to change these statistics for girls:

1) Starting at about 6 years old, girls start thinking that boys are smarter than them. 2) In elementary school, girls are as excited about science and math as boys, but by middle school, they lose interest. 3) 1 out of 3 girls say that they are afraid to lead because of what others might think of them.

A common complaint of Girl Scouts is that all we do is arts and crafts and cookies, but that's just not true. The troop is girl-lead, with leader guidance. If your troop isn't doing as much camping as you want- speak up! The outdoors is a core part of Girl Scouts. We backpack, rock-climb, kayak, and take on high adventure. These experiences help girls take risks, seek challenges and develop the resilience and grit to be successful. I went on a winter survival overnight camp in 9th grade, which wasn't for the weak of heart! Ask me about it sometime.... :D

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout can earn, and is the equivalent to Eagle Scout. I earned my Gold Award, and I'm so proud of that achievement.

Girl Scouts has always been a more inclusive organization, welcoming lesbian and transgender girls, and emphasizing the importance of inclusiveness and diversity. Every girl is valuable, and the inclusive, all-female environment of a Girl Scout troop creates a safe space where girls can try new things, develop a range of skills, take on leadership roles, and just be themselves.

The statistics speak for themselves: 90% of all female astronauts 75% of all female U.S. Senators 80% of all female tech leaders And every female secretary of state-all Girl Scout alumnae.
