So I’ve been a registered Girl Scout since 1997. In 2008 I was given a lifetime membership as a graduation present. This September will make 20 years. God, I used to love Girl Scouts. I mean, it was my activity during high school, it’s what I poured all of my energy into. There were only 2 badges that I didn’t get by the time I was an adult. But then Texas decided to go stupid and merge 5 councils into one to make this giant mess known as “Girl Scouts of Central Texas.” In the midst of this merger, I was completing my Girl Scout Gold Award. My final paperwork to be given my award was “lost” somewhere in all of the paperwork. 10 times. 5 times it was mailed. 3 times it was mailed certified. And it was emailed twice. Needless to say I’m a bit bitter that 90+ hours of community service and hard work are not recognized due to bullshit bureaucracy. One of my favorite places in the world, our only resident camp, was constantly made fun of by people in the council that would now be in charge of the shit show known as GSCTX. These people came in a year after the merger and belittled and changed years and years of camp traditions in favor of theirs. And I wasn’t a disgruntled child at the time, I was a full fledged adult working as a camp counselor. I’ve been a troop leader now since 2008, and the politics is just a constant drain. A few years ago they change the format we used, so new books and new patches and these things called “Journeys.” It’s ridiculous. They aren’t fun to do, the girls are not longer really learning things hands on like they should be. I’m not even sure I want my girls in scouts, and that was always a dream, to have little girl scouts.

Today is ‪#‎fastforwardfriday‬! And in correlation with the new Star Wars trailer out I thought would look at some of the fantasy technology they had. The link below focuses on the mechanism that captures the moisture in the air.

It does sound a little interesting to be a Moisture Farmer, but it would be fun to have any job that involves technology whether that be a fashion designer, a doctor, a choreographer and a movie animator. Think these jobs sound like fun? Check out the videos on the ‪#‎madewithcode‬ website.
