Early in their expedition, Grollor and Angel dealt with opposition, some from McCown loyalists. He didn't want it to happen, but he had to kill in front of her, urging her to change into an animal form that would allow for a quick escape until the dust settled.
One of the paths Angel wanted to take would lead them through the area between Mosch and Durtal. On one hand, there was danger from both ogrush and human forces, but on the other, spending 10 years in the area made Grollor an expert on the landscape. He just hoped he didn't have to explain why...
They needed to keep their heads down for a moment, so he risked taking her to Raven's Peak, an elven settlement that was still rebuilding after McCown and his cronies burned half of it down to "pursue war criminals" from the Alf-Anthro War a decade prior. The people there welcomed him warmly, having recognized him after his daring exploits not too long before. Some elves, however, side-eyed Angel, but Grollor clarified to them that Angel "wasn't like them," placing a hand on her shoulder instinctively. It was enough to assuage some of their concern, but even Grollor could tell there was a disparity in treatment between them.
It was getting late, so Grollor took her to a familiar tavern. Armored elves sat all around, raising their glasses as they noticed Grollor walk in. What could he have done, as a half-orc, to impress elves so much?
