What would the kittens look like if the mother were a fawn-based mackerel tabby tortie with 60% white and the father a blue tom with 10% white? I haven’t really decided on whether to make him solid or mackerel tabby too, could you give me possibilities for each? Thank you very much!
Unless the tom carries chocolate or cinnamon, every kit will be blue-based. If the tom carries chocolate or cinnamon, each kit has a 50% chance of being blue vs. lilac (if the tom carries chocolate) or fawn (if the tom carries cinnamon).
The tabby possibilities don’t differ too much either way, honestly -- if the father’s a mackerel tabby, the likelihood of there being solid kits goes down, but that’s really the only effect. If either parent is a mackerel tabby that doesn’t carry solid, all the kits will be mackerel tabbies anyway. If the mother carries solid and the father is solid, each kit has a 50/50 chance of being solid vs. mackerel tabby. If the mother carries solid and the father is a mackerel tabby that also carries solid, each kit has a 25% chance of being solid and a 75% chance of being a mackerel tabby.Â
Each kit will have a 50/50 chance of having less white like their father (anywhere from 0-60% possible) vs. more white like their mother (anywhere from 40-100% possible).
