I personally don't like reusable bags. They get dirty and I always forget to bring them with me. While at the checkout recently, I finally noticed something that has been there for years - the green bins! I like that they hold a lot of groceries, are stackable, and can be kept in your trunk so you never forget them again. Officially my preferred alternative over bags. Happy shopping!

According to this report Peterborough could run out of landfill capacity by 2032 or 15 years from today which emphasises the importance of diversion. In 2011 the landfill had 13 years left and would have closed in 2024 which is only 7 years from today. If diversion of mattresses, large plastic and construction material can do save 8 years imagine what diverting compost will do (17% of waste is estimated to be diverted with a green bin program in a report about implementing a compost collection system)
