#graze frame

I have spent all day feeling wretched BUT! I have finally rigged my Graze model, working pistons and all.

Well, not quite all, since I have stopped short of doing the hands because, again, feeling quite bad at the moment. And I appreciate the difference this makes visually is minimal, but it will make it a lot easier for me to do poses. Going forward, I'm certainly going to start building armatures much earlier in the process.

Some more quick renders for the weekend, since I've finished rigging the frame (specifically, the hands) and added some extra greebling. Also, I am gradually building up a complete Graze colour swatch, so I thought I'd have a go at the Ryusei-Go livery.

I am rendering this to show you the treads I added to the bottom of the feet today.

Eventually.

After discovering a small but significant mistake in the geometry for the heel that took about an hour and a half to successfully correct.

*muffled screaming*

I've been working on breaking up some of the slabs of blank areas on the frame, detailing beyond what's on the 1/100 kit some more. I'm aiming for a putative Master Grade-look, though I must be honest, I'm not quite sure how far to go with it. Over-greebling is always a risk.

This is the most festive colour scheme for a Graze on the books and I only just realised it's basically Char's Zaku's scheme. That's kind of funny.

Did a test of my new laptop's capabilities. This would have taken me a good chunk of the day on my old machine; on here, it only took about an hour (and only that long because I needed to go back and re-render everything as the right sort of transparent PNG.

A couple of minor updates to the model: I've finished porting in the MG Barbatos add-on kit detailing to the shoulder guards and I've added a little extra texture to the back of the rear ankle guards. I have also built a proper inner-side to the rear skirt, but you can't see much of that here (it probably won't show much whatever the angle, but I like knowing it's there).

I think the only bits that need serious work now at the front ankle guards (I need to bevel the edges and add a couple of very minor extra lines) and some bits and pieces on the frame. I'm not quite happy with the 'chin' yet, for example, and I need to work up an alternate skull to accommodate the Schwalbe's face mask's hinge.

But by and large...yeah. About done with both this and the Schwalbe's armour.
