@ghostgirlalicia âHow about something soft and domestic like making coffee or baking holiday pies.â
Grahamâs THIRSTY though so âsoftâ turned into âsmut.â Takes place about 9 months after the latest thing in this verse, about a year and a half after Josephâs transplant. Itâs shockingly low angst.
________________________________
Graham wasnât worth anything before his first cup of coffee in the morning. That was his only excuse, and the only reason he was in the kitchen a full five minutes before it occurred to him that Joseph was using a knife. Â
âLast I checked âno knives for Josephâ was the number one house rule, love.â Josephâs cooking skills in general were questionable and he wasnât usually responsible for more than making sandwiches. As for his knife skills, well there was a reason they kept a large box of plasters in the kitchen.
âThe apples have to be sliced before theyâre baked.â He used the knife to gesture at the recipe in front of him. Graham sighed.  Baking was even worse than cooking.
âThey should be peeled first.â He took the knife from Joseph, putting it down a safe distance from his loveâs reach. With a pairing knife in one hand he picked up an apple and peeled it in one long coil.
âWhere did you learn to do that?â
âPicked it up somewhere.â His grandfather had taught him when he was a kid, the same grandfather that had hung up on him when he was seventeen and reaching out. Instead of answering too truthfully and ruining the mood in the kitchen he took a bite of apple peel, making a show of drawing it slowly into his mouth. It was almost too easy to make Joseph blush.
âNow we cut it in half and scoop out the core.â He used a melon baller, a trick heâd learned in a restaurant kitchen once, to remove the core. Â
âShow me again?â Joseph asked once the apple was sliced.
âYou show me.â He handed Joseph the knife, wrapping his hand over his loverâs and resting his chin on Josephâs shoulder. Together they moved slowly, their combined fingers getting sticky from the apple juice.  They got even sticker when Joseph mixed together the sugar, spices, and flour with the apple slices by hand.
âDonât move a muscle.â Graham pinched together the crust around the rim of the pie. It wasnât the fancy lattice his sister would probably do but it was good enough to get the pie in the oven. The timer was set, giving them almost an hour before they needed to check on it.  He caught Joselg turning on the faucet. âWhat did I say about not moving?â
âI was just going to wash my hands.â He held them up, palms facing out.  It looked like he was surrendering.
âJust what I didnât want you to do.â He could see that Joseph was about to ask why; it amazed him sometimes how unaware of things his boyfriend was. He still didnât understand how attractive he was, how much his actions could be a seduction, the inherent eroticism of sticky sweet fingers. Graham drew one into his mouth.  âI wanted to do it for you.â
âOh.â It was almost comical, how quickly Joseph went from being confused to understanding. Â
âPieâs gonna take an hour, love. Do you have anything to do before itâs done?â Nat was at work and he didnât have to be anywhere for hours yet. He kept hold of Josephâs wrist and switched his attention to the thumb, drawing it into his mouth slowly, teasing the tip before using suction.
âI should clean up.â There was flour and apple on the counter and dishes in the sink.
âLater.â He used the hand holding onto Joseph to pull him from the kitchen towards their bedroom, pausing long enough to grab the bowl the apples had been in. Joseph looked at it quizzically, but didnât ask.  âWorks out nicely that I havenât made the bed yet.â
âI want to taste your fingers too.â Josephâs face flushed; nine months since they've resumed their sexual relationship and he was still bashful about expressing his desire. His cheeks were almost the same color as the pink jersey he wore; no longer confined to the black garments of a priest Joseph had learned to wear colors. Nat had been more than willing to influence his wardrobe. Graham tossed the empty bowl on the bed.
âYou only ever have to ask.â He held out his hand, and wished heâd taken a moment to back up against the wall because when Joseph licked his palm he felt weak in the knees. It was the sight of Josephâs pleasure as much as the warm mouth that had him swearing.  âFuck.â
âYou taste good, but you always do.â The flat of Josephâs tong rested against his pulse. Â
âWant to taste you everywhere. Bed,â he pleaded, pulling his shirt over his head and pushing down his flannel pajama bottoms. He hadnât bothered to put on any pants..  Unlike Joseph who dressed first thing in the morning in trousers and shirts even if he wasnât leaving the flat, Graham pulled on just enough clothing that he wasnât wandering naked. Unless, of course, it was to his advantage to wander naked; sometimes Joseph needed very blatant signs.  âJersey off first.â Â
âWeâll get the sheets sticky,â Joseph paused for just a moment, looking at his hands.
âWashing sticky sheets is my favorite chore. It means we had a lot of fun first.â  Graham laughed and gently pushed his lover onto the bed. He knelt next to him, resting one hand on the now naked belly just above the snap of his trousers. He reached for the bowl, tilting it sideways, allowing the scant spoonfuls of apple syrup and spices to splash onto Josephâs stomach. From the corner of his eye he could see his love flinch slightly.  âCold?â
Joseph shook his head. âI just realized what you were planning.â
âYou mean this?â He lowered his head, lapping at a pool of apple juices, catching a drop as it rolled down on side. Josephâs belly was soft and rounded, what some men might bemoan as a middle age spread but Graham celebrated as a sign of health. No longer could he count his loverâs ribs; every time Joseph had to loosen his belt it felt like a victory.
âOr this?â His licks moved higher up, chasing the taste of cinnamon and sweetness to Josephâs clavicle. He waited until he was sucking on Josephâs earlobe before undoing his loveâs trouser button.  âStill worried about things getting sticky?â
âPlease, Graham.â Josephâs hips jutted up when Graham stroked him through his pants. Graham chuckled and kissed his love.
âTell me, sweetheart.â There was nothing Graham had ever found that was as erotic as his love finding the words to ask for what he wanted.
âI want to feel you.â he wiggled his hips, trying to shift his pants down and free himself from the trousers.
âIâm right here.â There wasnât much juice left in the bowl but Graham wiped the inside with two fingers and painted Josephâs lower lip, not allowing it to remain long before licking it away.
âInside me. Please, I want to feel you inside.â Hands so much stronger and more steady than theyâd been a year ago pulled at his hips, close enough that his tip rubbed against Josephâs trousers.
âLetâs get these off you.â He crawled to the end of the bed to tug off the last bits of clothing and rolled over to the side of the bed to reach for his bedside drawer. The box of condoms he kept there wasnât small, and it was well used.  The lube was getting low; theyâd need to pick up some more soon.  Perhaps it was time to introduce his love to a sex shop. When he looked back at Joseph heâd rolled to his side, a blatant invitation he was glad to accept.
âYou smell like apples.â He buried his nose in the crook between neck and shoulder when he tucked himself behind Joseph, teasing his love with lube to make sure he was ready.
âIâd rather smell like you. I do, sometimes, after making love to you. I can smell you on my skin.â  Joseph rolled his head as far as he could to see the man behind him. Graham growled low in his throat.  Fuck, but the man was erotically honest.  He didnât need to see the look in Josephâs eyes to know that he spoke with sincerity. He couldnât wait longer and pressed into his lover.  If joseph wanted to smell like him heâd do his damndest to make it happen.
âSticky,â was the first thing he said after, teasing about the state of their sheets. They would definitely need to do laundry.
âMight need another shower,â Joseph murmured, tugging Grahamâs hand so his arm wrapped around his waist.
âI thought you wanted to smell like me,â he mock pouted.
âCompany for dinner.â Joseph sounded sleepy; Graham glanced at the clock and figured they had fifteen minutes or so before needing to check on the pie. They could take a short nap.
âCompany?â He didnât remember anything about people coming over.
âNatâs bringing her bloke for dinner. Thatâs why I attempted a pie.â  Joseph twined their fingers together. âTake a deep breath, sweetheart.  Itâs just dinner.â
âItâs a meet the family dinner. Sheâs bringing him home and weâre having dinner and I was tricked into helping.â He tried to sit up, but Joseph leaned back into him, pinning him into place.  It wasnât fair, Nat wasnât even home and his sister and boyfriend were ganging up on him. Family dinner meant she was serious about the guy.  âIâm not ready for this, Joe.â
âHe makes her happy, and you want her to be happy, donât you?â Joseph rolled over so they were facing each other.  âI can vouch firsthand how much it can change your life for the better to be loved by a member of the Hughes family.â
âYou arenât fighting fair,â Graham pouted. Damn it, Joseph would choose to get sentimental on him. âLoving you changed my life too.â
âFor the better?â There was just a hint of uncertainty in Josephâs voice.
âHow can you possibly doubt that?â He did his best to kiss any doubts away.
âNat deserves the same chance, love.â Their foreheads were pressed together.  Graham could smell their scents mingled together. He sighed.
âYeah, she does.â That didnât mean he was going to make things easy for this Adam bloke. Starting with his plan to try and lure Joseph into a second round.  Maybe if he was lucky theyâd âaccidentallyâ burn the pie.

Friends, can I get a roll call of writers and artists in the Bobby Squared fandom? Those who have, or would like to, or who would be willing to contribute art, fic, etc to the fandom?
Will Grahamavoy!Graham ever have a positive religious experience?
Thereâs a few. Â More positive spiritual experiences than religious, but the chaplain is an honestly good man who supports Joe and Graham, and is someone Graham can talk to. Â And over the course of their lives Graham goes to church when Joe asks, and meets some of his friends. Â Heâs never going to be very comfortable in the church, thereâs too much anger at the way his parents treated him and especially the way the church treated Joe, but heâs able to make a peace with it eventually.
Happens a day after this, when Joseph was found unconscious in the kitchen.
For destialdearie who needed something after a bad couple of days.
II
Graham could feel someone behind him before he turned around. Â The man was dressed in black, the familiar collar around his throat. Â
It made him angry.
âYouâre not needed here.â Â It wasnât the first time heâd seen a priest in the hospital. Â If he had been awake Joseph would have asked for a prayer and thanked the man of the cloth, and Graham would have said nothing. Â He would have bitten back his anger because it wasnât what Joe needed. Â But Joseph was still unconscious more than 18 hours after heâd been found collapsed on the ground.
âI could sit with him, for a little while.  The nurse says you havenât had anything to eat today.â  He could see the priest glance at his hand, clasping Joseph âs as if it was a lifeline.  He hadnât left more than twice since his love was admitted, both times only because he needed to use the loo.
âIâm sure someone around here would be glad of your help. Â They might even ask for a false promise or two.â Â He hadnât given much thought to God, not since heâd been a teenager and listened each Sunday to the reasons he was going to hell. Â And then Joseph had come into his life, and even if he hadnât believed he could see the good in faith. Â But God either betrayed those that loved him or he just didnât give a damn. Â âWe donât need you.â
âNot his fault.â Â Joseph licked his lips, trying to do more than whisper.
It was a beautiful sound.
âItâs about time.â Graham watched as his loveâs eyelids fluttered, opening slowly. Â He could have collapsed in relief except he needed to touch Joe, to make sure he was really awake. Â He forgot about the other man hovering just inside the room when he leaned over the bed, cradling Josephâs cheek in one had. Â âNot even Sleeping Beauty was out for this long.â
âHow...â
âLet me get you some water, sweetheart. Â It will help.â Â Graham poured a glass half full, adding a straw, and pushed the button to raise the head of the bed. Â âItâs been almost a day.â
âIâm sorry.â Â The skin between Josephâs eyebrows was wrinkled as he frowned. Â Graham wanted to kiss the dry skin and make it go away. Â
âIâll come back later,â the priest said after an obviously faked cough.
âYou donât need to.â Â Graham didnât bother to turn around. Â Joseph was all that mattered.
âPlease.â  it took Joseph a moment to turn his head.  Graham didnât know how to shield him from the things the man might say.  Too many âChristiansâ had already condemned them for their love.  But he nodded.
âLater,â he agreed reluctantly. Â It was a relief when the man in black was gone and they were alone again.Â
âHeâs a good man, Graham. Â Weâve talked before and heâs listened to my confession.â Â Joseph took small careful sips from the straw. Â Not enough, as he pushed the cup away before heâd drunk more than half of it, but it was something.
âYou have nothing to confess.â Â Joseph was the best person he knew, but it wasnât that. Â He knew the fear of dying without being forgiven, and the idea of Joseph being ready to die was a fear that heâd inhaled with every breath the last day. Â If heâd been home any later the night before, or if hospital had been any farther away it might have been too late.
âHe was right, wasnât he, about you not eating. Â Or sleeping.â Â Joseph moved his hand a little, brushing Grahamâs thigh. Â He did not have the strength to lift it any farther.
âI donât need food, Joe. Â I need you.â Â Only the doctorâs presence had kept him from holding Joeâs hand from the moment they arrived at the hospital, as if his hold alone could keep Joseph tethered to him.
âYou need to take care of yourself, no matter what. Â If...â
âI should get the nurse, let her know that youâre awake.â Â He couldnât listen to whatever it was his lover was about to say.
âI worry about you.â Â Josephâs eyes were so serious, even as he fought to keep them open.
âThatâs my job. Â You have enough to do.â Â He kissed Josephâs lips lightly, and made a mental note to find the chapstick he habitually carried. Â âYou just need to focus on healing. Â The sooner you feel better the sooner we can get out of here, and I can share a bed with you. Â I donât sleep well unless youâre next to me.â
âMe neither.â Â Joe attempted to move over on the cramped hospital bed. Â âLie down, love. Â Itâs my turn to stay awake.â
âHow about we both stay awake for a bit. Â And when the priest comes back Iâll go and get something to eat.â Â He took no comfort from having a priest around, but Joseph did. That was what mattered. Â Joseph didnât need any more stress.
âFor a little while,â Joseph agreed. Â When Graham held his hand he squeezed back, a littlle.
âWe need to go shopping.â Â Nat didnât give Joseph a choice. Â In short order she had him out the door, down the street, and onto the tube.
âWhat are we shopping for?â he asked as they exited the tube and walked towards Lush.
âNot what, Joe. Â The right question is âwho are we shopping for?â Â And the answer, of course, is us. Â Weâre shopping for us.â Â Nat did a half spin when they entered the store. Â âDoesnât it smell wonderful?â
âYes?â Â Joseph blinked and looked around. Â âThis is where that bath thing came from, isnât it?â
âTotally, and you should get another one. Â You and Graham could enjoy it together.â Â Nat winked. Â It was always fun to make suggestions. Â Just the idea of Nat knowing that he was having sex with her brother flustered Joseph. Â She wondered if heâd get used to it at some point, now that he was better and sex was presumably becoming more of a regular thing. Â At least she hoped so; they deserved to be happy.
âDoes that really say unicornâs horn?â Â Joeâs face was flushed when he picked up the closest thing at hand.
âYouâre adorable, you know that? Â Iâm gonna get you a bath bomb, and one for me too. Â Or maybe two. Â I feel like treating myself.â Â She was always in the mood to treat herself at Lush, but more than usual today. Â Adam had invited her over for dinner. Â A fifth date, and for the first time at his place. Â Indulging in a special bath was just the thing she needed to feel calm and confident. Â Dinner at his place was a step forward, no matter what happened or didnât happen after dinner. Â âAnd then Iâm going to show you the strawberry shaving foam. Â It smells awesome but since I donât have a beard itâs not very useful for me. Â But you should get some.â

anonymousnerdgirl is getting attention from an ass and needs cheering up. Â Also, it's been way too long since my boys have had sex and I needed to fix that.
Takes place after Joseph is in remission for a few months, about a month after he and Nat have a talk about sex and a few weeks after Nat meets Adam.
Valentine's day, NSFW
II
âNatâs not going to be home for dinner?â Â Joseph leaned against the doorway of the courtyard, watching as Graham set a table for two.
âShe has a date. Â You know, with that teacher bloke.â Â Grahamâs displeasure was clear in the way he wrinkled his nose and furrowed his brow.
âShe likes him. Â And itâs good that sheâs making friends. Â Sheâs spent way too much time this past year helping take care of me. Â Sheâs young and needs to have time on her own,â Joseph chided.
âExactly.  Sheâs young and should  be out having fun.  Heâs⌠serious.  And at least forty.  I donâtâŚâ
â...get to decide for her. Â Is there anyone youâd listen to about who you should or shouldnât date?â Â Joseph touched his finger to his loverâs lips.
âNo one ever cared about the âwhoâ just the âwhat genderâ of my dates.â Graham sighed. Â âI know. Â I just worry.â
âOur girl is smart and sheâs a good judge of character. Â We have to trust her okay?â Â Joseph was slower to judge, but if he was honest with himself he was no less worried. Â it was the first time heâd ever seen Nat interested in someone. Â She talked about Adam differently than she had anyone else sheâd dated.
âI trust her completely. Â Him, not so much. Â And if he hurts her you might need to have bail money ready.â
âIf he hurts Nat I might be sitting next to you in that cell.â Â He was starting to put on weight, but the image of Joseph beating up anyone was enough to make Graham snort with laughter, just as Joseph had intended. Â âAre those flowers on the table, love? Â Whatâs the occasion?â
âReally?â Â Graham shook his head, and looked over his shoulder at the table. Â Not only was there a vase of daisies, Joeâs favorite, but there was a pair of unlit candles as well as a card leaning against one of the wine glasses.
âDid Nat happen to give you lessons on how to, um, romance me?â Â Romance wasnât quite what Nat had suggested to him, but he wasnât going to admit to that conversation.
âI donât need advice from my little sister on⌠Wait a minute, did she give you suggestions?â  Graham threw back his head and laughed.  âSweetheart I donât think you could turn redder if you tried.  What has Nat been up to?â
âNothing.  She just thinks⌠she worries⌠I accidentally confessed that we havenât⌠and she...â  Joseph covered his red face with both hands. Â
âSo my little sister is giving my boyfriend seduction advice? Â Man, is my life a little weird sometimes.â Â Graham kissed the back of both of Josephâs hands. Â âSo she thinks you need to get some, does she?â
Joseph wasnât about to mention that the conversation had started about Natâs own sex life and lack of âgetting some.â Â Especially not when his little sister was on a date. Â âShe wants us to be happy. Â And she was worried that I wasnât quite recovered. Â Which I assured her I was.â
âOf course you are.â Â Grahamâs hands encircled Joeâs wrists, tugging at them. Â âBut maybe sheâs not wrong. Â Iâve been telling myself that you need time to recover. Â That we both do. Â That just being able to hold you is enough. Â And it is. Â God, Joe, I came too close to losing you this past year and if I could do nothing but hold you for the rest of our lives Iâd be happy. Â But I think itâs time to take back something that belongs to us.â
âGraham.â Â Joseph was barely aware of the tear that fell down his cheek. Â His heart was so full it had to escape somewhere. Â âI love you.â
âI love you, Joseph MacAvoy. Â And I think Valentineâs Day is a perfect time to ask you if I can make love with you. Â I had plans. Â Dinner.â Â He waved his hand over his shoulder at the table set for two. Â âBut it can wait. Â I want you Joe.â
âIâm a little scared that I wonât remember how to⌠do anything.â  It had been more than a year.  He hadnât known anything before meeting Graham.  Was it a skill that got rusty?
âYou know how to love, Joe. Â You know how to touch. Â And no one has ever been able to make me feels as good as you do.â Â Graham slid open the door that led to their bedroom, to the bed where theyâd slept together every night he hadnât been in the hospital. Â Theyâd never made love on it, though.
âRemind me, Graham. Â Please.â Â He was trembling. Â There had been days when he thought his every sin had been seen by God and losing Graham, never feeling his touch, was his penance. Â And even darker days when he thought that Graham would be able to heal and move on if he would just die. Â But their private purgatory had ended, and they were still standing.
Standing together, Grahamâs chest to his back, his arms around Josephâs waist. Â Nimble fingers undid a single button, then another. Â âDo you remember this, Joe? Â The excitement burning in your belly? Â The need humming in your blood?â
Joseph nodded, watching as the next buttons were undone. Â Grahamâs fingers were skilled, managing each button even as Graham was focused on kissing the back of his neck. Â When the last button was released and the shirt fell open, however, Joseph flinched.
âSweetheart?â
âIâm fine. Â Sorry.â Â He couldnât help but run his fingers over his own belly. Â The skin was pale, almost translucent. Â Though he was slowly gaining weight he could still see each rib. Â The contrast to Grahamâs muscled torso and tanned arms was overwhelming.
âTell me?â Graham asked as he turned Joseph gently until they were facing each other.  âI want you Joe.  I want you today and for all our tomorrows, so we can go as slow as we both need.  If this too much too soonâŚâ
Joseph shook his head.  He wanted this.  Not just wanted, but Graham was right, they needed it.  The communion of it, as well as the joy.  âI wish I wasnât⌠this.  I know Iâve never been the kind of guy most people look at, but at least I wasâŚâ
âDonât be a bloody idiot. Â You are everything I want. Â Everything,â Graham stressed as he backed Joe into the wall. Â Joseph had almost forgotten what it was like to lose his breath because of a kiss and not pain.
âI can feel your heart beating against my skin, and that matters. Â I can feel your cock telling me that you want me, and that matters too.â Â Grahamâs hand slipped into Joeâs sweatpants, fingers gentle as they caressed him. Â âAnd you are beautiful, Joseph. Â You are so damn beautiful. Â I donât know why you canât see that, but I see it.â
âWill you take me to bed, Graham?â Â Joseph was awed by his lovers words. Â Honestly he wasnât sure how much longer his legs would support him.
Graham nodded. Â âHappy Valentineâs Day, love.â
Well it's almost 2 here and I have class at 9 so for TMI Tuesday can I just know something about Nat's day/night?
I think you'll get where I'm going with this, Ali.
II
She was running late, of course. Â Hitting the snooze a second time had been a bad idea, but sheâd been up too late watching youtube videos. Â It was terrible how one video suddenly turned into seventeen. Â She didnât even have time to wash her hair, but put it up in a bun before doing a quick job on her makeup.
"Donât worry, I didnât cook anything. Â Thereâs a sandwich and some fruit. Â And maybe a treat as well." Â Joseph was waiting by the door when she raced down the stairs, shoes in hand. Â He held up a packed lunch and a thermos of coffee. Â "You werenât going to take anything, were you?"
"Good thing I have such an awesome big brother looking out for me. Â Tell Graham Iâll be home in time to help with dinner." Â She stopped long enough to kiss him on the cheek. Â She didnât stop to put on her shoes until she was in the lift, and was lucky enough to catch the bus without a minute to spare. Â The ride gave her enough time to drink her coffee and check her emails.
She was just in time for coffee in the break room as well, but all the best pastries were gone. Â Nat carefully picked all the raisins out of a muffin, and had time to eat most of it before her alarm went off. Â she only had five minutes before first bell, and still had half a coffee to drink. Â She knew from experience that Monday mornings were impossible to deal with on less than two cups of coffee.
"No more youtube on Sunday nights," she muttered as she left the break room. Â And promptly ran into someone. Â And spilled her coffee. Â More on the walkway and the cuff of her sweater, fortunately, than the person she ran into.
The guy she ran into.
"I am so sorry." Â Nat fumbled for something to wipe up the drips of coffee on the pale blue shirt. Â "I am so, so sorry."
"It doesn't matter. Â I'm less worried about my shirt than I am being late. Â Can you point me in the direction of the west wing? Â I'm starting today and I'm all turned around."
"You work here?" Â It wasn't often that the upper form teachers found their way to her side of the school.
"I do if I don't get fired for being late. Â I teach Lit, or will in about five minutes." Â He had to be six fee tall, and his eyes were a piercing blue. Â They didn't have teachers like that when she was in secondary.
"Turn left at the end of this corridor, right at the second corridor after that, and you'll be there. Â Most of the writing and lit classes are upstairs. Â Welcome," she added as an afterthought. Â "I'm Nat."
"Adam," he said with a nod before jogging down the hall. Â Natalie watched him until he rounded the corner. Â
