DX Omegahorn, Enkaku, Goukaku, and Zankaku
Going back to the last season, I did want to review Gavan Infinity, but I had a hard time getting my thoughts together. It reminds me a lot of Ultraman, like, a lot of Ultraman. Structurally it feels almost identical, having an episodic A Plot with a serialized B Plot, with episodic and series based percentiles of each feeling pretty much the same. And that may be why I have trouble talking about it. I like Ultraman, I've watched ever season since Ultraman Z, but I never review it because I never know what to say about it.
And I've now watched the first episode of Omegahorn. Fast paced, got the point across, easily held its own but then references the last season in its final moments to build intrigue. Pretty excited. I think I've said this before, but I like that we went from a known Metal Heroes series title to a brand new one, showing the scope of what Project R.E.D. can be.
The Omegahorn: Not that impressive individually. Its transformation from megaphone to jet is just flipping the handle down. While it can read different Emogears/Egogears the sounds aren't that different or bombastic. I do like how it inverts to become the backpack, I just wish it did a little more.
Enkaku: Very interesting toy. I love that he and the rest of the Kakuzyu are organic designs, since that's unique to this type of series. There isn't any transformation here, but there is much more combination to be had, with the ability to combine with multiple Kakyzyu, as well as backwards compatibility with the Gavarion weapons. I also appreciate that there is some innate combination required, since we've kind of lacked that King-Ohger.
Enkaku is also as big as Gavarion Trigger, and is definitely set-up to have something similar to a robot mode with either Hekikaku or Kienkaku in the future, which I'm looking forward to. I think my only complaint, which is a general one for the line, is that there are no unique Egogears like the Gavarion heads. Would have been cool.
Goukaku: Again, there's more innate combination here, with both Goukaku having individual and a combined kaiju forms, plus the ability to form knuckles for Enkaku. Very fun little fidget toy.
Zankaku: It's a fish. Not a lot of moving parts, it's mostly just meant to form a posable blade for Enkaku and that's it. Happy to have it for an eventual big combined mode with Saikaku, but Goukaku is definitely more interesting for the first wave.
Overall, Enkaku is really cool, the Omegahorn isn't that interesting but is required to make Enkaku really cool, Goukaku is cool on its own but is also part of what makes Enkaku really cool, and Zankaku I'd only recommend if you have the above three. It's not what you'd normally expect from Sentai, but on its own merit I think it's pretty interesting.
