Salem looked up when he felt someone begin to pat him. “Do you mind? I’m trying to sleep.”

‘ hey . that’s pretty good , ’ he didn’t really understand the metaphor , but he knows it sounded kind of smart . ‘ you mind if i use that sometime ? ’ he pulls out a pen and begins to write her words on the palm of his hand. ‘ i’m... a snail... and god... is... ’
