* BROTHER / FREAK

          being the new kid  in a town he didn’t know was hard enough as it is.  having the fact pointed out made him nervous, afraid he stood out.  it was the last thing that jonathan wanted.  to be reminded that he didn’t fit in.  he knew that already.  ❛ yeah...  that’d be me i guess... ❜

          he can’t help it.  she looked beautiful in the morning light, and he had to take her picture.  it was best capturing moments unnoticed.  when they were in their natural element, unaware of a camera.  there was no fake persona.  and that’s what he loved.  ❛ well...  you just looked so beautiful is all... ❜

          he takes a breath,  attempting to calm down.  he can’t help getting into this state when he’s worried, especially where will is involved.  ❛ i can’t help it nance...  if we hadn’t have gone off on that quest or whatever you want to call it, maybe i could’ve been here to help him.  what if i lose him forever ?  it’ll be my fault,  again. ❜

          one hand clutches the camera,  the other raising slowly at her words.  ❛ sorry...  it’s just kind of my job to take pictures around the school.  you know, for the yearbook and stuff...  capturing people in their element. ❜

          why was she so demanding ?  ❛ you know...  don’t i deserve a little romance first too ? ❜  he’s teasing of course.  like he could ever deny nancy what she wanted.  she had him whipped for lack of a better phrase.  he’d do whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted.

          he understands the want to be alone.  but sometimes, even though you say you want to be alone, it’s not what you really want.  he always said he was fine being by himself, didn’t care that he didn’t have friends.  but that wasn’t entirely true.  a lot of the time he felt lonely, like he was alone in a big world.  ❛ you say that’s what you want, but do you mean it ? ❜

          he’d always been right there.  in a matter of speaking.  but it was hard for him, everything going on at home, trying to have life back to normal.  and also the knowledge that she’d chose someone else over him.  he had thought they had a connection, until steve had barged in trying to make things right.  then the monster happened, and he got will back.  and everything just went crazy for a little while.  ❛ i’ve always been here though. ❜

          it’s not like he can help it.  she’s always so beautiful, his eyes never leave her.  in a crowded room he only sees her.  it’s just a shame she doesn’t feel the same.  ❛ i’m not looking at you like anything... ❜  he worries that she might think him creepy for staring, even if they are friends.

          busted !  camera is slipped behind his back  ( because that’s not obvious jonathan ! )  and he shrugs his shoulders, looking back towards the papers on the table.  ❛ nothing.  i didn’t do anything nance, you’re being paranoid. ❜

          pretty mild considering what most  have called him in the past.  it doesn’t bother him anymore, because he’s accepted the fact that he is, indeed,  a freak.  ❛ that used to bug me in the past, people calling me that.  but now i consider it a compliment.  after all, why would you want to be normal anyway ? ❜

          there was only one thing  he was really afraid of.  and that was losing what he already has.  his life may not be the best, but right now it’s at a point where it’s good.  his mom and will are okay, they’re doing financially okay for the moment.  and he has nancy as a friend.  he’s afraid of screwing any of those things up.  and taking another step with nancy would probably result in what they had crumbling eventually, because she’d realize there were far better options out there.  ❛ our lives are finally back to normal nance...  as normal as they can be after what happened.  i don’t want to screw that up. ❜
