Day 12 - Stay Healthy
This has become the new sign-off on texts, phone calls, e-mails and the news. I also use it all the time. And today, I thought this theme would tie nicely into the Ginger Chronicles which spawned from a few of the last posts. Seems NJ also had a shortage, whereas California and NYC had ample supply. Here in Switzerland, it was hit or miss as well. My dear friend J, picked me up some in Volketswil and I could now brew my magic potion for staying healthy. See below: Ginger, Lemon, and Honey tea. I normally put huge chunks of it in homemade soup and the other Asian cooking that I have more time to do at the moment - hence my anxiety when I couldn’t find any.
On the topic of staying healthy, when the virus first reared its ugly head in Wuhan, Hubby was already preparing us for the impending pandemic and had us taking vitamins, going to bed early, and avoiding alcohol. We were very good during our ski vacation the first week of March. We cancelled our annual 5 family party, and thus avoided unnecessary exposure and a LOT of alcohol. But today, I caved, after 3 weeks of being totally dry. I needed some wine to stay sane and enjoy with dinner. Everything in moderation, I say.
Social Distancing
I drove to J to pick up the ginger. We chatted briefly through the screen door of her kitchen before I got too cold.
Health Status
Family in NJ - all healthy
Other - my friend’s boss in Canada (age 36!) described having corona like “simultaneously breathing fire and drowning”. Luckily he will be fine and his two young children were not affected at all.
Food Supply
Still good and still avoiding the supermarket.
Physical Activity
Zip. Zilch. Zero. And winter is back...
Dinner
FRESH: Veal roast, mashed potatoes, and broccoli
