Goodbye Solo's reflection
I accidentally deleted this blog I wrote previously. However, Goodbye Solo is actually a very good movie to begin with. It shows the common conflicts of 2 people Solo and William. Solo represents friendliness, while William represents anger. Solo's life is not completed, so does William; but these 2 characters have different point of views: Solo is positive and William is negative. Both of the characters have the goals to achieve, Solo wants to be flight attendants, and William wants to fix his past. However, the ways that these 2 characters go to their goals are totally different. Solo puts his ambition to his goal, while William puts his flaws to pressure himself. In my opinion, “Goodbye Solo” means goodbye loneliness. William, in my perspective, represents loneliness, as I can see from the movie, he is actually all by himself; and does not want anybody to irritate his personal life, and he even ignores the helps from others. Hence, the last scene that William goes to the Blowing Rock to farewell his life and Solo, it is obvious that he wants to commit suicide due to his life crisis. This means that goodbye loneliness. You can see from the last sequence that Solo and his little girl are together, and do not look back to loneliness.
Goodbye Solo (2008)
A buddy film that just has a whole new scope at how the ancient story-line is written. Goodbye Solo is a film about a taxi driver, Solo, and a client of the local area, William. The film begins with the two of them in the car discussing business. They’re making a deal for the 20th that Solo will be William’s driver to Blowing Rock. William accepts and begins asking questions about why William is going there and if there is an event there or something. William has no intention on telling Solo any of his personal business and tells Solo that he wants hi to be quiet. The formula for a buddy film, is to have the two characters be as opposite as possible, and yet they need middle ground that is pertinent to both of their characters. William is very “kept himself”. He doesn’t want anyone to be in his personal business and emits an attitude that screams “I don’t care!” Solo on the other hand is very upbeat and positive. He is open about his life and has an energy that allows others around him to be happy as well. The middle ground that these two have is the fact that they both care about things to same degree. Difference there is that Solo openly cares for people. He helps them when they’re in need and always tries to provide for them. William cares in secret. He has a notebook in which he writes down all of his thoughts about the little things that people do. He always notes down the good things other people do for each other and he even takes note of little details in the lives of those around him. One scene William is even shown giving away his clothes to the housekeeper at the motel. Goodbye Solo is awesome and is definitely worth the watch.
