It’s interesting how good Jerry’s eulogy shows hints at his fucked up relationship with Mort before we learn about it. When he doesn’t get enough of an initial response, he repeats ‘how many of you here loved my son?’ like he’s the hype man for a band instead of a grieving father at a funeral. When he says why he loved him, he first states ‘because he was mine’ instead of ‘because he was my son’, showing how he considered Mort more of a possession or extension of himself than his own person.
