I would write this differently now but I do love florid ridiculous dialogue. I think this was meant to set up a future conflict of some sort involving Gecrimaug that never materialized, but these things happen when you plow through the story without a tight plan.

I’m back on this; I’m working an awful lot lately on Island Book among other things but I’m queuing up the next several pages of RB Rerun, sorry for delay.

Unusual little reaction sequence here; it reads here as a kind of shiver of contempt but I don’t know if that’s what I was going for. Gecrimaug fits into a sort of archetype of flamboyant, over-confident man that I’ve only recently noticed shows up throughout my work and I hope I’m writing with more and more nuance... Bakrah from Vattu, maybe Aethirus from Order of Tales, in a way?

Barging in like he owns the place!! I was developing throughout this comic the approach to coloring that I’ve used ever since, and though it’s mostly flat, there’s a few moments like the first panel here where I was trying to do something with the lighting. I have never felt like I understand color and I have no idea what I would’ve done if I hadn’t been able to work with friendly & forgiving Photoshop.
