The actor who played Ike Godsey on the Waltons passed away this week.  Most of us never saw him play any other part, and he played it so naturally there was no way to believe he was any different.  On a show that lost several of its leading actors over the years he was a constant, calming influence.  Another actor from two middle years of the series passed away last week, also in his eighties and most of the other adults are either still living or died very old.  It's like they were a real family of people as decent as the men and women they were playing.
