"The Son of the Earth" was created by Professor #DongShubing of Tsinghua University in the #GobiDesert in #Hongshanpo, #GuazhouCounty, #Gansu Province. The #sculpture is 15 meters long, 4.3 meters high and 9 meters wide. The title of the work means that we are all the children of the earth. The design and construction of it was organized by Professor #DongShubing, who also raised the funds needed. After the construction, it was given to the local people free of charge. Professor Dong Shubing said that the reason for the construction of the "giant baby" was to protect the local living environment. Later, it became a landmark building on the desolate land of Guazhou. #scultura #cultureisfreedom #artisfreeltdom #curiositykilledtheblogger #artblogging #photooftheday #artaddict #artistsoninstagram #amazing #artwork #instacool #instaart #followart #artlover #contemporaryart #artecontemporanea #artmuseum #artcurator #artwatchers #artcollectors #artdealer #arthistory https://www.instagram.com/p/CUqR68bAj5p/?utm_medium=tumblr

Naadam is Mongolia's biggest traditional festival. This annual festival is also locally termed "eriin gurvan naadam", "the three games of men", which are Mongolian wrestling, horse racing, and archery. The festival and these games are held throughout the country during midsummer. It formally commemorates the 1921 Revolution, when Mongolia declared independence from the Qing dynasty and also coincides with Mongolian State Flag Day. This year's festival is currently underway, and while we are sad to miss these exciting celebrations, due to the pandemic restrictions, we will be to be back next year, when we will visit the festival and ride beloved Mongolia again! When thinking about an adventure, the following two considerations should, among others, be asked during the planning stages: When is the best time to go and what is the most appropriate equipment for the job? Unless you are Chuck Norris or John Rambo, in our opinion, the best time to visit Mongolia weather wise is between the months of June and September. We once shared a few laughs with some hardened Muscovites from the Russian Embassy in Ulaanbaatar, and they complained bitterly about the Mongolian capital’s dreaded winters. We took that as good advice. Surprisingly, the summer is characterized by sunny days and rain to keep the scenery lush and green in the north. It’s a very pleasant time of year to ride your motorcycle, although the southern Gobi can get truly hot on some days. If you are planning on riding the Gobi desert, we would recommend a lighter enduro style bike. The attraction to ride the Gobi lies in the freedom experienced by not having to stay on any particular road, and a heavy bike may take away a bit of the fun, especially if you are lucky enough to encounter some deep river crossings, fine sand and rocky mountain tracks on your route. This does not mean that a large “BMW GS Block of Flats” can’t do it – it might just detract a little from the fun factor. Or it might not! Whatever bike you choose, be sure to fit the right tires for your adventure. At least a 50/50 off-road combination (such as the Continental TKC 50’s as an example) that can handle both dirt and pavement equally well is ideal - you will encounter some good paved roads in-between the fun stuff. Bottom line is, Mongolia is an adventure riding paradise and must be explored - just make sure you do that at the right time and with the right tool for the job! •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Renedian Adventures. The Gobi is a truly enchanting region, everchanging with seasons. In summer, the Gobi turns green, with fantastic wide carpets of flowers of all colors. In winter, the Gobi turns into one of very few places where one can see sand dunes all covered in snow.
