random stats accounting for my chinese-language/tv media consumption for the first half of the year
counting minis as .25 of a show and dropped shows as .5 (since i tend to get into the teens or 20s before dropping), and turkish tv shows as 2 shows because they're so long, here's my shows finished count per month since i started watching tv at the beginning of this year:
january: 2.5 shows
february: 4.5 shows
march: 11.75 shows
april: 8.5 shows
may: 4.25 shows
june: 2 shows
july: 1 shows
however! i am about to finish 3 shows in the first week of august, so june and july aren't quite as shabby as they look... we could boost each one by one show
otoh, i also started reading cnovels. again counting dropped/super-skimmed novels as .5 since i only drop after i get a good amount in, here's my approximate guess for counts:
january: 0 cnovels
february: 1.5 cnovels
march: 0 cnovels
april: 0 cnovels
may: 5 cnovels
june: 3 cnovels
july: 6 cnovels

i started watching tv on a whim while i was quite sick in the middle of january, having more or less not watched tv for over a decade before that. in february, i transitioned to cdramas. march is when i decided that what i wanted to do with my life for the forseeable future is inhale chinese-language media. april is when i started blogging a lot more, and we can see a slight decrease in shows finished. in may, i started actually reading cnovels. starting may/june, i decided to watch multiple shows at once, to the detriment of my 'productivity'. otoh i probably wrote the most essays and posts during that time. (fated hearts was a may show, and the first jasmine and secret of three kingdoms were june shows.) i also took a hit in june because i watched an airing show, which slows me down. plus may/june is when doggo started being quite sick. july was decently productive esp when we count in that i was kinda half busy with life things
so, i think i can average about 7ish shows + novels read per month if i want to blog at the current rate when i have some life stuff going on, maybe up to 8-9 shows if life is being chill. i do think, looking at this list, it's clear i finish a normal length cnovel faster than i watch a full-length 30-40 ep show
means i will probably finish about 40 cnovels + shows before the end of the year. less than one hopes, but not bad. i have about 60ish shows and 30ish movies on my 'really want to watch' list. i'm also still reading about 2ish non-cnovel books a month
at this rate i think i can exit my self-decided "full time occupation" of chinese-language media by january next year, which honestly, would be not bad. i also hope to be able to read cnovels in chinese by the end of the year
