I think it’s telling that of the three couples, only Aziraphale and Crowley don’t get explicit textual confirmation. Like, Anathema and Newton do the do, Anathema calls him her bf, and even Agnes implies they’ll get married by addressing the box to a Mr. and Mrs. Pulsifer. Madame Tracy and Shadwell are getting married and moving away from London together.

But Aziraphale and Crowley? They’re continuing on like they have been, enjoying each other’s company and eating lunch together. Which is lovely, and I definitely interpret their whole relationship as romantic, but there isn’t explicit textual evidence of their romance like the straight couples. There’s enough openness there that homophobes or just oblivious audience members can interpret their relationship as only bffs, not bffs who are also in love. Unlike with the straight couples who you can’t deny are romantically involved unless you want to look like an idiot.

Crowley knows both and can model both sides. he’s from heaven, he knows hell, he can more or less accurately predict their reactions, tools at their disposal, and also just how incompetent both really are, but aziraphale has never even seen hell before this

and now i want to crack open aziraphale’s skull even more just to see what kind of dragons his brain filled that gap with. what hell looks like through the lens of his fear of doing what he knows is right if it means falling.

whereas w Az and Crow and all the other angels, they legit were created without a gender

they're legit genderless beings because they are sexless beings

like angels are basically non-corporeal energy, they aren't human

however, Az and Crow chose to present as male and esp Crowley is shown to be particularly attached to his corporation and the male presentation that goes along with it

Well there is always the possibility that when they fell the rankings shifted in the mad dash for power that likely ensued. And because Crowley didn’t fervently side with either, he may have ended up in a less favored position for it. Getting the job on earth may have been a “No one else really wanted it” kind of gig.

Crowley, being the nostalgic and ironic bastard that he is may have held onto the serpentine form for his own little pleasure or as a reminder to demons/angels what he once was.

but yeah I like this and figure that for the most part, ranks from Upstairs didn't much matter Downstairs

Heaven's ranks are based on duties, Hell's ranks would be based on how much power you had and commanded

While I do see their builds being the same as Aziraphale and Crowley (pudgy and skinny respectively), that's about it.

Azariel: Like Az I see him as the softer of the two. Though they would have both started off as rather lean, they both get squishier as time passes. As opposed to Az's blond hair and blue-grey eyes, I see Aza with ginger hair and few freckles. Undecided on hazel eyes or green-grey eyes... And while Az had golden-beige wings,  I think Aza would have someting more reddish to match his hair, like a pale amber-beige.

Gliss: He'd be all angles and pale and awkward like Crowley. While I see Crowley with black hair and his gold eyes, I think Gliss would have dark brown hair that's still more brown than black with his read eyes. I've always liked the idea of Crowley having charcoal grey wings, but I think maybe that Gliss would have wings that are darker than his hair, an almost-black shade of brown but speckled with shades ranging from golden to white edited because newest fic says his wings are not only dark and speckled, but coloured red, green and gold.
