I feel like giving my opinion on gmm22 now that it's over and I've had time to thing about it, so here's a post no one asked for. :)))
Not sure whether they saw it as a success or failure, but personally, I think it was a wasted opportunity.
From my limited perspective as a fan, they could have done soooooo much more than ramp up the food episodes and trot out a bunch of celebrities. They could have made each day's videos somehow related instead of rushed and disjointed. They could have made bringing back Link's Instagram into an ongoing game between the them. They could have done more videos outside in natural freaking sunlight.
Of course, after spending time/money on a new set, I'm sure they wanted to use it as much as possible. And I don't know the terms and conditions of their partnership with YouTube, so they may been required to do things a certain way.
There were some things I enjoyed, though! The song parodies were a lot of fun. Some of their collabs were great, especially when they had a guest like cuddle queen Jean or Chris Sullivan. I liked watching them eat snacks in their office and make food with Tess and Josh. There's something about getting them out from behind the desk that provides more opportunities for humorous moments from them, and I love that so much.
For good mythical summer and beyond, my wish is that they do more things like that. But, based on what I've seen, that may not be something they plan to do. They're known for their weird food episodes, so I guess they need to keep those up to please the majority of their fans. I am intrigued by the idea of a Saturday review ep, though, so we'll see how that goes. :)

I left this comment of my own, just to try to off-set the shitshow that is happening. I just feel like people were already poised to shit all over it because it was different, and we all know that different is the DEVIL, right!?

To everyone who was scared that the bigger desk means they’d sit further apart - WORRY NOT :)
So I watched it out of order XD not intentionally tho and I didn’t feel like I was missing something because of that fact.
The ‘Baking in the Wind’ was hilarous, the jingles cute and if Link wants to return to Instagram he should put all of the pictures up :)
The ‘Will it?’ hasn’t changed, still not a fan of the retching.
The lighting needs some adjustment? And maybe the sound, it was a bit.. empty? Echo-y? I can’t describe it. All in all I love it and I can’t wait for what’s to come :)
Do you (or anybody else) know if GMM22 is gonna be a permanent thing? Or is it more like the Mythical Show where they got funding and then once that’s gone it’s over?
I think that’s something what time will tell us. What I understood from the interview, the team on YouTube’s end along with Rhett and Link and their team/company is investing a lot of time and money to make this ‘’new show’’ work. There probably will be a lot of changes along the way just like original GMM has had along the years. They’re doing everything bigger and better(?) so I highly doubt that after this new GMM they will go back to way it is now but they think of something else then if it doesn’t work.
