Of course all this does is remind me that a) they are practically supermodels so I need to stop being fooled and b) I need to walk outside myself after dark and let my wild side-show for a few hours just so I can glam up. Rami Malek's star is on the rise, but his dear old mom is seeing to it that he remains humble.

The Mr. Robot star brought his mother as his plus-one to Sunday's Golden Globes, where he was nominated in the best actor in a TV drama category. He was up against Jon Hamm, who ultimately took home the award, and his mom was happy with the outcome.

"I took my mom. She was really proud. She’s my backbone," the 34-year-old Los Angeles native said on Tuesday's Ellen DeGeneres Show. "But all she wanted to do was meet Jon Hamm."

Malek continued, "I was like, 'OK, Mom, you can meet Jon Hamm. Hold on, I got to do some interviews.' And she’s like, 'I need to meet Jon Hamm right now.' I’m like, 'You understand that’s my competition tonight, right?' … It [didn't] matter."

When the Mad Men star took the stage to collect his award — and take us way back with a Chumbawamba reference — Malek's mom thought it was for the best.

"We were sitting down and his name got called and he won and she said, 'He deserved it.' I’m like 'OK.' … She loves me to death, but I think she was protecting me to a certain extent."

As for Hamm, who posed for photos with Malek's mama, the USA Network star said, "He's such a cool guy. He was so much fun and he is so deserving."

The good news is, Hamm will no longer be a competitor next year. So maybe Rami’s mom will root for him next year ... if there’s not someone else she’s a big fan of (Liev Schreiber? Bob Odenkirk?) in the category.
