Dancing
āMay I have this dance?ā Kurt hasnāt heard those words in almost 5 years. The last time he heard them he had just picked himself up, with help from Blaine, to stick it in the faces of dumb high school losers. Now though, heās hearing them while heās sitting at his desk in their shoebox New York apartment wearing the same thing heās been wearing for three days straight, complete with a myriad of stains, working on a paper for his sophomore Classics class that just wonāt submit.Ā
The words still make him go all gooey inside but heās confused why heās hearing them now, especially when there is no music to be heard. He turns around to find Blaine standing much like he had 5 years ago, arm extended in front of him but instead of a suit, heās wearing pyjama pants, a McKinley t-shirt that is probably Kurtās and his hair is ruffled, curly and unstyled.Ā
āWhy?ā Kurt asks with a smile.
Blaine shrugs with a hopelessly endearing grin,Ā āBecause we can.ā
Kurt canāt say no to that, his paper can wait for a song. He gets up, takes Blaineās hand and allows himself to be pulled into a comfortable dance position; his arm resting behind Blaineās neck on his shoulders while Blaineās rests on his lower back, their entwined fingers coming up to rest between their chests.
Kurt allows himself to be swayed for a few seconds before he crinkles his eyebrows,Ā āMusic?ā He asks with a chuckle.
Blaine shrugs again,Ā āDonāt need it.ā He says simply and continues to sway his boyfriend in slow circles and eventually, sooner than he would have thought, Kurt decides he doesnāt care that there isnāt music and just rest his chin on Blaineās shoulder and lets himself fall into the dance.
An indeterminable amount of time later, Blaine pushes against Kurtās chest with their entwined hands to indicate that Kurt should move away. Kurt is a little sad to do so. He was quite enjoying the sway.
Blaine gives Kurt a gentle smile, places a slow kiss to his forehead and then points to the computer behind Kurtās back,Ā āSorry to have interrupted.ā And with that, he make his way back out of the room, probably off to finish cleaning the kitchen.
Kurt stares after him as he leaves, a little confused but heās all tingly inside. As he makes his way back to his computer and sits down he canāt help but smile and hope that moments like those, those unexpected moments of love, never stop happening.
