Plant of the Day
Wednesday 29 April 2026
On a sheltered raised bed this 30 year old clump of Glaucidium palmatum (Japanese wood poppy) was thriving. This rhizomatous perennial is a native of Japanese woodland and it requires a humus rich, leafy soil with a cool, moist climate and protection from cold winds. Well grown Ardfearn Nursery, Bunchrew, Scotland!
