Friday Cocktail Lab
It started off with the intent to make granola (I have a measly oven, my friend doesn't). Â Neither one of us remembered to get the granola ingredients. Â The second intent was to make Sekanjabintinis, so my friend brought what she thought was mint syrup. Â It turned out to be mint essence water, which was manufactured by a natural pharmaceuticals company. Â So we raided the bar and cupboards and found:
Pear vodka
Ginger tonic
Lime syrup
TabascoÂ
Not bad. Â A little sweet. Â I inhaled most of the tabasco fumes, but it cut the sweetness nicely. Â We tried again with what was available:
Saffron gin
The rest of the ginger tonic
Much better!
None of these required fancy liquors or mixers or anything. Â I made the saffron gin and the pear vodka myself by combining the ingredients in a mason jar and letting them sit for a week or two. Â We raided the cupboards for the rest. Â Easy and cheap!
