So I’ve been pouring my heart and soul into an account that was given to me when I first entered the agency.  As I understand it, no one had really owned the brand until I was put onto the account. They’re not one of our bigger clients, so they don’t get the full resources a larger client would. However, I do like the brand and believe them to offer a great service.

That being said, I was originally tasked with curating/choosing photography for social media posts from a large bank of images that they have taken and cataloged.  This didn’t seem hard at first, though the client is very picky about what photos are showcased, this didn’t take me long to learn. They provided a large brand book that would guide me through fonts, illustration styles, and the kinds of photos they felt represent them the best. They did not however have any brand guidelines for GIFs.  With my skill set of animation, illustration, and video editing. I decided to utilize some of their photography and video stock footage and began creating little bits of content for their social media pages. They were extremely receptive to it and some of the posts I’ve created have gotten the largest audience reaction participation to date.  Problem is, I spoiled my team. I get relatively little help from the rest of my team on making these things.  In fact, anything involving video and the delivering of files that are essentially video clips would typically go through our video team. But since I have the knowledge to make these things happen, I decided to do them myself.  Not all photography in the client’s photo asset bank was on brand or “useful” until I came in and started to utilize them for GIFs and social content.  Without meaning to, I increased my workload for this brand.  The client has been receptive to our work, but my team hasn’t really caught up to what I’m trying to do. So this week I’ve had to start calling people out for not going through Project Management for file requests.  They would simply give me short deadlines, out of no-where, and expect me to prep files for them without much knowledge for how time consuming making these kinds of things are. So fuck that.
