I'm gonna be a huge hater for Mass Effect on this one... I haaaaate the mother-son interpretation of Shepard and Grunt. I hate it. I think it's stupid as fuck. It was funny earlier on, but now it's just dumb and annoying and infantilizing of Grunt. Yes, functionally, he's an adolescent and also brand new, but he's also not a child ðŸ˜. I just hate how much it's permeated the collective fandom space. Half the time if he's in a fic, I cannot read it because it just takes me out of it.

Ehhhh.... I'm not really ashamed of the things I like in fandom lmao. I'm willing to give most things a fair shake, and I either like them or I don't.
I'm not ashamed or mad or horrified about this, but I do like the potential of Mara and Shaxx having a sort of loose friendship as a result of Sjur being an anchor for both of them in each other's lives. It compels me! However, I don't believe it to be anything more than a distant friendship. And I don't think Mara would define it as a friendship either... Shaxx would, though.
