Here's a bit from the sequel to Coloring Outside the Lines

This one is something of a generic amber-gold shade that doesn't give him too many clues about what it might be just from the visual.

"Whoa," Evan says, blinking at the glass and then taking another sip.

"You like it?"

"I think so?" Evan says, sounding heavily doubtful about that statement, but intrigued nonetheless.

When Evan puts the glass down between them, Tommy pulls it over to take a sip and immediately understands.

"Oh. Interesting."

"What?"

He eyes Evan a moment then nods slowly and says, "Makes sense though."

"What?" Evan says again, looking back at him with flushed cheeks and bright eyes that are a little shy but eager for his assessment. His attention.

"Sours aren't for everyone, that's for sure. They're unconventional. Bold. Complex," he says, trailing his eyes over Evan's features.

He likes the way it looks on him, and he sets a light knuckle under his chin - all he needs to draw him over for a kiss, he goes so easily with it. He keeps it tasteful enough for the bar, but chases the flavor of the beer around Evan's mouth with a little sweep of tongue before he pulls back and adds, "Suits you."

"Yeah?"

He looks through his eyelashes at Tommy, then drinks some more of the beer in question and hums. Says, "I think it's growing on me."

tear

i, no word of a lie, couldn’t find tear anywhere. then i tried cry (no joy!), and then i tried break — we have a winner!

"What happened?" Maddie teased, sitting down on the edge of his bed. "Did Tommy make you watch a basketball game?"

"I wish," Buck grumbled, peeking out again. "Tommy picked up an extra shift so when Connor asked if I wanted to go out…"

"Ah," Maddie said, swallowing a laugh. Buck saw her shoulders shaking anyway. "I'll get the coffee started. And then you can look at the apartment I found."

"This is LA and you only found one apartment?" Buck asked, pushing himself up on his elbows. That put him on an angle to catch the sun coming through the break in the curtains right in his eye, and he winced.

"Oh, there are hundreds." Maddie waved a hand. "But this one has all of our preferred and optional requirements."

Ring

It took a bit of time to gather their outerwear, and to ring for Young Tom (who maintained that name despite being nearly thirty, and no longer being the newest Tom on the estate, having been succeeded in that honor by Wee Tom and Ginger Tom) to bring the dogs round for some exercise. Young Tom had begun as an assistant kennelmaster, but had cross-trained as a footman in order to take charge of whatever dogs the family wished to keep in the house rather than in the kennels; Pemberley was known for its hunting and herding dogs, but it had always seemed to happen that a few favorites ended up more pet than worker.

Young Tom made his appearance with Antony and Cleopatra, a pair of elderly greyhounds who had produced many fine litters for the Pemberley kennels before their retirement, strolling politely to heel on their leads.

“Morning, Tom,” Darcy said, accepting the leads and bending to stroke the hounds’ silky ears. “Where’s the young troublemaker?”

Young Tom sighed. “Mr. Bailey brought him down to the scullery just after seven,” he said. “He was making a nuisance of himself, so we set him out to the kennel run for a bit.”

Upon reflection, Darcy thought he distantly remembered hearing some scratching and whining upon the door between his bedchamber and his dressing room that morning, though he had been far too agreeably occupied at the time to pay it much heed. His valet had dealt with the situation admirably, as he dealt with all situations. Darcy made a mental note to put a bit extra in his Christmas box that year.

“Ah,” he said. “We’ll pick him up from there and pay him some attention, then.”

Young Tom nodded with the air of a man who was very definitely not reminding his master that he had warned him that allowing his very large and very attached dog to sleep in his chamber might have unpleasant repercussions in future.

Such as when said master married and wished for a decidedly more appealing—and fragrant—bedfellow.

no wips with competition! I had one "competing", but that's in the big bang wip, so instead you're getting a new snippet of the "nice" time loop that I just wrote!

“Yeah?” Buck says, confusion tipping his voice up into a question. Was he not supposed to believe Tommy? “I mean, it’s weird, sure. But I got struck by lightning and had a coma dream where I had to, like, love myself hard enough to wake up. A-and I got cursed by a dead cowboy. S-so why not a time loop? Also, I don’t know why you’d ever lie about this, anyway.”

Hanzawa Masato can’t know how this ends, but he knows how it started—high school, second year, freshly seventeen and adjudicating the results of a fixed game, knowing that the kid with gold-shocked hair is going to stay in your ping pong club, but not knowing why— —and now that boy is here: Tashiro Gonzaburou, eighteen, a blur of blinding blurred and bright like he’s become light itself, voice cutting through the pounding of his heart: “RUN!”
