#ghost logic

I absolutely love the whimsy of having a ghost teacher, as well as the fact that he was so locked into his routine that not even death would stop him from going to teach. And having a ghost for a History professor? Where he may have actually lived through the history he’s teaching? Inspired. (Though I’m not sure that ever actually came up).

But, ghosts canonically can’t manipulate physical objects unless they’re poltergeists, right? Sure, Binns gave all of his classes by oration, but how did he collect homework, bring it to his office, sift through all of the sheets, and grade it? Didn’t he ever need to write down his class plan and teaching schedule? How did he ever open a book to refresh himself on particular bits of info (particularly in anticipation for that Granger girl who inexplicably was able to stay awake and kept asking pesky questions)?

I’ve concluded there are three options:

1) He has a gaggle of student assistants who help him literally every time he needs to touch something.

2) Flitwick (or the Charms professor 3 generations ago) created a full set of magical pens, bags, and book readers for every thing Binns could want.

Okay I know the ghost rules are pretty iffy in this show but this one is particularly baffling.
