Going into the barn, walking over to a specific cage, yelling "POTATOES!!" and being rushed by a litter of eight rabbits is just the best thing ever.
Probably the friendliest litter I've had this year. And I haven't had much time to handle them. They're just super curious and bold. Love that. Wish this wasn't just a test pairing. I'm not keeping any of them, but they are very nice kits. I expect them to get pretty big.
Great pairing for temperament and type. Most of them are very chunky and wide already. There are two wideband chestnuts, and the orange kit is definitely wideband. He seems to have brown eyes, so I'm assuming now that he's NOT dilute. He's also not in this photo, he abandoned the food to seek my attention. lol
Frost, chillin' on the box.
....If Frost's orange kit ends up being a dilute orange (cream), I'm going to be SO mad at the odds gods, because WHY NO OPALS, THOUGH??
Lots of orange and brown.

None of the surviving agouti kits in litter GF1 are chins, turns out. I swear the two that were deceased looked more chin than chestnut, but all of these being chestnut seems odd, if Gin is supposedly carrying something on C. Is he not, then? It would have been 50% odds for the chin gene expressing, and that definitely didn't happen. Now I have no idea what that deceased white kit was. It looked nothing like the one orange kit in the litter, so I don't think it was an orange (and it was a pretty big kit, so it wasn't underdeveloped or anything), but what else COULD it have been? Maybe just very, very low rufus? No color yet?
Oh well. Chestnuts galore.
The question now is whether or not Frost carries REW. I won't find out for a while. And this litter has been.. inconclusive.
The rest of Frost's litter are technically a day late. But, in total, she had 11 kits. That's the largest litter I've had born so far. No wonder she was so huge. She had nine in the early AM, all in the nest box (woo!), but two were either stillborn or died after birth. The seven that are alive look to be okay. Six agouti, one ORANGE, so Frost also carries non-extension. Of the three that were deceased, two were agouti, one was what I believe to have been a frosty. Which makes sense, because some of the agouti kits do look like chins. Meaning Gin carries something on C... meaning Sol likely does, too. Hm..
