I had every intention of making it to Lone Star Roundup yesterday, but I managed to inflame the plantar fascia in my right foot while I was I was replacing the batteries in the smoke/c02 detectors when we switched to DST some weeks ago.

I've been hobblin' 'round since. No fun. It'll take a while to heal.

On a upbeat note, I did get together a buncha' instants for 'Roid Week Spring 2024, which starts tomorrow.

Lock screen.

I made this colorful picture of my iPhone's lock screen with the Olympus Stylus XZ-2. The camera has an art filter called "Key Line" that results in these amazing saturated colors. Absolutely wild and pretty much useless, but I had to share a bit of playful photography.

Late 70s, early 80s. Calero Reservoir in San Jose, CA.

Julie was her name, I think. My memory is so bad.

She zoomed around in a little brown VW beetle with wide tires and Keystone 5 spoke wheels and lived in the same apartment complex. So cute.

It was a double date with Buddy and Terri. Sailing around the lake on a Hobie Cat was a metric ton of fun, even better with a cute girl on board.

Ah, youth.

We lucked out yesterday.

As totality neared, the clouds scattered and we were able to see progress wearing the safe viewing glasses the missus purchased a month or so ago.

I sat on the back porch and waited for crescent-shaped shadows from the Live Oaks to appear on the ground. As the clouds broke, the shadows filled the edge of the porch and much ot the patio. Love that.

The turning dark part was the coolest. Sneaking a quick peek at the eclipse in totality without the safe glasses was pretty cool, too.

A little later in the day we got a little bit of rain, which was nice.

Woke up to rain this morning. We need it.

Eclipse viewing looks a bit iffy today. Looking out back this morning, there's a pretty thick cloud cover.

We're right in the path of totality, but all we'll get out of this will be a gradual darkening of the sky starting a quarter past noon, then 1 minute 40 seconds of darkness at ~1:37 pm, followed by a gradual return to normal by 3 pm.
