On February 6, 1931, the silent film Woman in the Moon was released. It was directed by Fritz Lang, who directed Metropolis and based on the novel by Thea Von Harbou, who also wrote the novel for Metropolis. The movie introduced the concept of counting down for a launch (previously, they were always counted up). It also had the first depictions of liquid fuel rockets, multistage rocket, and zero g in space. Its accuracy was too close to what the Nazis were working on with their V2 rockets, so it was banned in Germany. The movie was restored in 2000 by Bundesarchiv-Filmarchiv. The film also contained one of the earliest "product placement", in this case, a brand of mouthwash. ("Woman in the Moon" Movie Event)
