Camas Pocket Gopher Thomomys bulbivorus
The largest of the pocket gophers, it is found in Willamette Valley of northwestern Oregon in the United States. It forages for vegetable and plant matter, which it collects in large, fur-lined, external cheek pouches. Surplus food is hoarded in an extensive system of tunnels.

Baird's Pocket Gopher Geomys breviceps
Found in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas states in the US. It burrows underground and while making its nests obtains food from the roots of different plants in its tunnels. The gophers store the food they gather in small pockets that look like black slits called "cheek pouches" on the side of their head, which is where the name "pocket gopher" originates.

A gopher found in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. It occurs in forested and agricultural areas. They are locally common but considered agricultural pests.
