Genseric was panting in fear. His Titan ally had fallen to a barrage of blasts by the Shade of Oryx to draw fire away from him. He also heard footsteps approaching and could feel the Shade closing in on him. He didn’t know what to do. In a panic, he ran to the hovering Ghost.
He barely made it halfway there before falling himself.
“We were so close, too,” he thought, defeated.
Genseric could feel the darkness taking him, smothering him. He was going to die for the last time. He felt his light almost snuffed out when suddenly Ikora’s words echoed through his head.
“You are the singer whose light penetrates the Darkness. When you feel you will be lost, find yourself. Find your light. Find your song. Use it to push back the Darkness! You are a breed of Warlock whose melody shall burn away the Darkness and illuminate the way like the Sun!”
Suddenly, he felt his light surge through him. It was burning. It was torturous.
It was beautiful. It was radiant.
Genseric couldn’t contain the light by himself, though. It had to come out. He sent it to his Ghost, Spook desperately trying to pull him back. As he passed the light, he whispered in his mind to his Ghost, “Listen to my song...”
Suddenly, he was up! His body, glowing with the Sun’s might, radiating, pulsing, singing with energy. Genseric surged to his ally, reviving her. With their renewed energy, they finished off the foul Shade, and completing their mission.
As they readied to head back to their ships, his Titan friend looked pointedly at him. “Wow. Didn’t know you guys could do that.”
Genseric gave a curt smile. “A song is needed to be sung. Too bad you’re too busy sewing and using your eyes as a flashlight to join the choir.”
She playfully punched him, though it still hurt. She was a Titan. “Shut up, nerd!”
They both got on their ships heartily laughing.
