Las tierras desertificadas son el resultado de una destrucción de la cubierta vegetal, de la erosión del suelo y de la falta de agua. Esto se da a causa de las actividades humanas o variaciones climáticas, que afectan al suelo fertil y productivo de forma total o parcial.
