Foxglove: Name three facts about your family?
Call it natural talent or whatever, but everyone in that family can draw decently, if not well. Everyone except the youngest, Yumeko, that is. She cannot draw at all, and when she once submitted her drawing to a magazine, Umetarou changed her submitted age to âthree years old.â
No one in the family are really big on physical appearance. They would take care of their skin and get haircuts to maintain its length, but anything beyond that (e.g. mascara, hair dye, nail polish) is considered too much of a hassle. Except for food (the mother and Umetarou cook like thereâs always a feast), theyâre quite a laid-back bunch, really.
Umetarou comes from a typical, average family. No big family drama or secrets. No extremely close or abusively distant family ties. No financial debt that would push a family member to do the extreme, going against their morals and better judgement, such as applying to be a rich, cocky, and mean guyâs personal maid, only to fall in love with him later on and face the problems of living in a new world. In short, the Nozaki family is so ânormalâ that Umetarou cannot use them as inspiration for his manga, because he believes it would make the character dynamics boring (plus shoujo families are âsupposedâ to be way more dramatic). Aside from them being useless in terms of inspiration, Umetarou really loves them.
