                         “My... sibling sense is saying that you’re disgusting,” Peter shot back, watching the look on his sister’s face that said he was about to get a split lip. “But my HIGH KING sense is saying that I could probably take you.”

❝Four.  Are you hearing me? Four.❞ Lucy’s staring at the table, breaking off in momentary spurts to give her brother more and more scathing glares.  ❝There were exactly four pieces of cheese on this plate.  And how many are there now? None, Peter Pevensie.  Zero pieces of cheese.❞ It’s only when she finishes that she turns to him fully, eyes practically slits.  ❝Wonder where they could have wandered off to.❞

                         HE COULDN’T BEGIN to keep the grin from sliding up his cheeks. “I haven’t the foggiest idea what you’re talking about,” he said, still chewing on the last slice of gruyere. As he swallowed, he shrugged. “You could see if the kitchens have any more snacks?”

For the first time since Jadis’s defeat, Poppy was afraid of her own home. It was not a comfortable feeling.

And with the unrest in this corner of the forest, he wasn’t certain what would speak louder at this point: diplomacy or force. He hoped he could speak sense into the outlaws, but the knights he had brought with him understood as well as he did that certain measures may be necessary for the good of the land as a whole. “Though if you feel unsafe, there is a family of fauns I know of just a short while away. I’m sure they would happily take you in until this is all over.”

                        “Since the kerfuffle with the photos and your tell-all exclusive, everyone wants to see your face. You’ll be coming to these things for the next while, I suspect.”

                         “I was hoping I could sneak away and not be missed, but my brother’s decided to drag me to it. I suppose he wants to dance with all the beautiful women who’ll allow him.”
