Gemfire (NES)
#gemfire , known in Japan as #royalblood is a fantasy kingdom simulation game for the #megadrive #segagenesis #nes #snes #msx #necpc9801 #fmtowns #necpc8801 and #microsoftwindows . This is the #segagenesis version. It was developed and published by #koei . This game was part of #koeis short lived #imaginationseries of games by #koushibusawa himself. It was released in Japan in the #famicom #pc88 #pc98 and MSX in 1991, it came to the #sharp68000 , FMTOWNS, #superfamicom #segamegadrive in Japan in 1992. The North American release on NES, #genesis , #supernes and #msdos came in 1992. Finally, it came to #windows in Japan in 2003. This game is heavily featured and explained in a mini documentary that I did on my #retrobeard Youtube channel. Please feel free to check it out for greater detail! It is set in a fantasy world where kingdoms engage in a great civil war that feels like a cross between Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings! You run an economy, fight wars, defend, manage a population, engage in diplomacy and so much more! Set in the kingdom of #ishmeria , great houses such as blanche , lyle , coryll and chrysalis battle eachother and the #kingeselred . Each wants the crown and beware the mighty dragon! Lead warriors, monsters, mighty wizard's such as #pluvious , #zendor and many others! Please go to my Youtube channel and subscribe! The link is in my bio. DAY 1184) Super Royal Blood - Tactics 4
Composer: Masumi Itou
This trackâs super weird steve reich-esque minimalism and a bit of a challenge to describe/grasp.
The âactual sheet musicâ way of writing this out would probably be:
(0:00 - 0:21) 15 bars of 4/4
(0:21 - 0:31) 4 bars of 7/4
(0:31 - 1:15) 30 bars of 4/4
(1:15 - 1:33) 10 bars of 5/4
(1:33 - 1:37) 2 bars of 6/4
[loop]
However if youâre listening it should be pretty obvious that the â4/4âł parts are pretty much the most rhythmically complex parts of the track. The bass layer may be in 4/4 (which is why I wrote it this way above, itâs the most consistent/easiest way for someone to read it) but the that higher synth layer is doing mixed meter (alternating between 7/8 and 6/8 in an unpredictable way) on top of the 4/4.
That mixed meter layer is going: 7+6+6+6+7 + 7+6+6+6+7 + 6+7+6+6+6+6 + 7+7+5 (all /8) during all the of the 15 bar chunks of 4/4 (from :00-:21 / :31 - :53 / :53 - 1:15).
Although 7+6+6+6+7 as a grouping adds up to 32, thereâs not any clear indication that thatâs the start/end of a phrase in that layer, I just put spaces there so itâs easier to count out. After 2 goes of that it keeps going to more random feeling groupings of 6 and 7 that donât nicely line up with anything at all.
At the 5/4 part that sound continues but itâs actually lined up with the more typical 5/4 pattern everything else is doing there.
