I enjoyed myself and I want to see more, and I'm gonna be antsy all week waiting for the next one

I hope Ben's personality shines in the next episode. In this one, there was too much going on to really nail him down as a character. But it does have the moment where he risks himself to help a guy when he doesn't even have to, which shows that the show is keeping with the ethos of the old series, and making him a selfless altruist like Sam was.

So cool to see Ernie Hudson as Magic, hope we get more into his past, like if he remembers Sam leaping into him.

Leap plot was rushed, which was a shame. I think the first episode should have been extended or a two-parter, but c'est la vie

It did seem to front-load a lot of things that might not have been needed right off the bat

The effects did feel rushed (like for example when the handlink shows that Scott Bakula DVD cover promo photo and there's a point where the beam doesn't track with the handlink, which is a sloppy mistake) but I mean, I've been a student filmmaker and VFX artist and I don't really care about how flashy it is as long as it gets the job done, and it did.

Addison was a fine character, but as observer she could be better. As many have said, Al's best qualities as the sidekick are sadly absent in her at this early stage. Namely, the costumes that made Al stand out as an obvious anachronism, and the irreverent personality. I don't want Addison to be a copy of that, of course, but so far she does a lot of blending in. But, it's only the first episode. Things may change.

Scott Bakula has said unequivocally he has no involvement in this series, which bums me the hell out. If this show does well enough, they may get enough money to wave in his face though... right?
