Excited for my weekend escapade aka first adventure for the year. I just finished packing my stuff (I always prepare my things ahead of time so that I won't forget anything) and managed to squeeze in my 3-day outfit into 1 backpack including my dslr and action camera. Lately, I kinda got the hang of packing light. I also plan my outfits ahead to avoid bringing extra or unnecessary cothes that I won't be wearing anyway. I do roll them carefully and place them on ziplock bags on a per day basis. Also, I always bring with me a flashlight, exta batteries, powerbank, and a rechargeable fan you know just incase I would be needing it. Cos I don't really stay at hotels when I travel but rather stay in hostels or just go camping by the beach (if it's an overnight trip). I always choose to travel on a budget but food is like my guilty pleasure and I don't deprive myself of that. Hahaha. This is not the first time I'll be commuting outside Manila but I'm still pretty nervous. Anyway, i've already written down a guide and like how to's based on the blogs I've read. First solo travel for the year and hopefully more to come. ✨

2018 hasn't even began and there's still a few months left before 2017 ends and yet I already have so much things to look forward to. Each year has been getting more and more exciting. Life has its way of giving me crazy unexpected beautiful things. I was having doubts before but now I can totally say that I'm just exactly where I'm supposed to be and that I'm just right on track.
This year was a year full of 'making things happen'. And it has been one of the best years of my life by far. I know that there are still a lot more wonderful things that could and will happen on the years ahead. Life just keeps on getting better and better. As Augustus said, “I'm on a roller coaster that only goes up, my friend”. That's how I literally feel about my life right now.
One of the things I'm already looking forward to is my birthday beach trip. I started it out this year and decided to do it like a yearly birthday 'thing'. I really love being at the beach and its my happy place. So now, I'm making it some sort of a tradition to visit the beach every year on my birthday. I had already planned out where I'll be spending my birthday and the things I will be doing. Idk, but for some odd reason, as I get older I don't really like spending my birthdays around much people. There's just something about going on a solo trip, being able to reflect about life, and just enjoy your day without having to think about other people but yourself. No big parties, no hassle preparations, no spending too much money.
And as far as traveling goes, I made a promise to myself to visit at least one country per year. And guess where I'm going for 2018? Thai-fucking-land. I am going to Thailand! We're already booked for April just in time for the Songkran Festival. I actually wanted to visit during the Loy Krathong Festival but maybe next time. I know its still half a year from now but I already made some sort of itinerary. That's how excited I am about this trip. I'm going with my aunt and some of her high school friends. And all of us are already so looking forward to this trip.
Aside from an out of the country trip, I just asked my mom last night if she wanted to go to Cebu. I was eyeing on these tickets for a few days now since it was on sale. But I don't want my mom to feel that I'm planning on my own again and not asking her. She's from Masbate and we have relatives in Cebu, we have been there when I was in high school and thought maybe we could visit again. Luckily, they will be having a reunion on May so I told her I'll book us a ticket if she wants to come and that I'll pay for everything. So as soon as she said yes, I immediately booked us a ticket which only costs 2,200 each for a roundtrip ticket. I have always dreamt of taking my parents somewhere else and this is just the start.
I have so many plans in life that I really want to happen so I'm taking one step at a time. There's no stopping me now from the things that I want and from having this awesome life. No matter what life throws at me, I will always try to make things happen. That's how eager and determined I am.
Ever since I got to travel outside the country last 2015, I made a promise to myself to travel at least one country per year. My tita is one of my inspirations. At the age of 55 she was already able to visit a lot of countries on 5 different continents (Asia, Europe, North America, South America and Africa). She has worked so hard for years and now she rewards herself by traveling. And I wanna be like that too.
Back in 2015 I was able to visit HongKong and Macau. My tita brought me there as a late graduation gift. We spent 1 day in Macau and 3 days in Hong Kong. And last year we were in Singapore for 3 days. I'm trying my best to save up so I could travel alone outside the country. I've been eyeing on Thailand since last year. I really wanna visit Chiang Mai and witness the Loy Krathong Festival. I was targetting this year but there's so much happening with my life right now.
This year, I was able to go back to HongKong because of my work. Last April, our company sent me there together with my 3 other colleagues to attend a fair. We were suppose to go to China but there has been problems with regards to our visa. And as you probably know, I've also been to South Africa last May. It has been a month since that trip and honestly speaking I'm still not over it.
Yesterday, I got a really really good news from our AVP. She was asking for my passport details and I was asking her what's it for. She didn't tell me not until after lunch. I was really shocked when she showed me the paper that we will be attending a conference in Moscow, Russia! I can't believe the fact that I'll be traveling to Europe this coming September :(( I was asking her if that was real, is she joking and stuff like that. Today, I got a copy of our ticket and she was like “yes, this is real, you are not dreaming. Here is you're ticket. We're booked.” Like OMG. I love my work so much. I never knew and expected that I could travel because of my work. As soon as I got the news I immediately told my parents. I was crying last night because my dad sent me a heartfelt message. They were telling me how proud they are of me and my achievements.
I'm really really overwhelmed and grateful. Not everybody gets to have this kind of opportunity and I'm so lucky to have been chosen. I promise to do better at work and always give my best.
The past few months has been amazing. And it's so crazy! To think that just almost half of the year. This has been the best year of my life by far and I can already imagine how wonderful and awesome the next months and years to come would be. Everything still feels a bit surreal. I've been to places I once was just dreaming about, tried things I never thought I could and crossed paths with people whom I never saw to make such an impact in my life. Let me just highlight the things that has happened for the past five months.
January – this was the first time that I got to travel alone. I made a trip to the beach on my birthday. I'm so thankful to have made this trip because I got to know myself more. I promised myself that this year I will start making things happen and I really did.
February – although it wasn't really much of a big thing but this is the first time I was able to attend the UP Fair. Ever since college I've been wanting to go but I'm not sure why I didn't. I had a really great time with my friends although it rained and the ground was so muddy.
March – one of my favorite month. I got to experience the Malasimbo Magic. My college friends and I went to the 3-day art and music festival in Puerto Galera. It was such a great experience. Being able to travel, meet new people and gather as one because of music.
April – first out of town trip with my officemates. I was actually the one who arranged this trip. From the package, food and transpo. Because of this trip I was able to bond and got to know my officemates more. We got to see the different sides of each other. Also, this was the first time that I was able to travel out of the country because of my work. I was sent to Hong Kong to attend a 3-day fair. I learned so much and this is definitely a milestone for me.
May – the best month ever! Yes, I'm already claiming it. I got to go to South Africa and see the safari which was so amazing! It still feels a bit surreal. Never have I thought that I would be able to visit that place someday. I've only seen it in movies or dreamt about it. And being there was just plain magic. Just telling stories about that trip is not enough. It's so hard to describe and narrate what I really felt and experienced during that trip. I really think that nothing can top it off.
Five months have passed and I'm so looking forward for the months to come. I've just really started living and loving life. This is what life should be. Fun, happy and full of adventures. It should be lived to the fullest. That’s why I am choosing to live and not just to exist.
I really don’t plan na maghanda on my birthday. Kasi nga instead na maghanda, feeling ko mas worth it kung ipamalengke nalang for a week para tipid. 😅
But Saturday, March 7, 2026, my tita (uncle’s wife) messaged me and ask if pwede daw ba namin e advance ang “pakals”. Nahiya naman ako mag “no” kasi nga, minsan lang yun sila mag ganun. And mostly sa mga ganap namin, sila talaga ang taya. Kaya nakakahiya humindi this time, porket ako na ang taya 🤣😅
So ayun, searched a resto na maganda ang review. And found “The Oscar’s at the Eugenio Lopez Center”. Ganda naman ang review kaya, G na!
FF:
March 8, 2026
Nauna kami there (by kami i mean my fam), sinadya konpara makapag picture taking pa kami. Ganda ng view eh 😁
The portal to the oscar’s and the overlooking view from where we parked our car.
Then more photos na:
These set of photos taken before we head into the main bldg where the resto was located.

Last November 30, 2014, I was one of the lucky few to attend a Paper and Puncher Party hosted by Mikko Sumulong of I Try DIY held at the Hey Kessy Studio in Katipunan. I along with my two good friends who are all new to this crafternoon concept but are inclined to DIYs gamely participated. The two photos are proof that I was too busy that afternoon that I wasn't able to take photos of all the ganaps that afternoon. Mikko and her Mom taught us different ways on how we could DIY and personalize cards and envelopes using paper punchers, stamps and anything under the sun. Your imaginaion and creativity is the limit. But come our free hand/free time session, we were particularly busy with punching gift tags because it was perfect for the holiday season. Its true that punching papers is addicting as well as making envelopes! So many punchers and papers to try but so little time! I really had the best time that afternoon. Met new people who are also very much into DIY. Two thumbs up for this ganap! I will surely find the time to attend another crafternoon in the future.
For more of your crafting needs, I Try DIY also sells a lot of stuff so do visit her shop here and you might find yourself buying all her stash and stuck inside your room crazy busy with punching papers, making cards and envelopes among others.
