So I have a headcanon that a lot of the maiar mentioned in Tolkien’s works were all friends. The two who were never really a part of this friend group are Pallando and Alatar and those two are just always off doing their own thing. Obviously Sauron, Saruman and all the other fallen maiar are no longer friends with any of the other maiar, and Melian had to get reacquainted with everyone, and so did Gandalf. Once Gandalf did return, however, he introduced pipe-weed to everyone, and while most of the maiar rejected the idea of smoking, a few like Osse, did pick up smoking.
I am impressed by the fact that Legolas makes a confused face in the first films of the Lord of the Rings every time someone dies.
He does not seem to understand what is happening, because death does not belong to him.
