What is it about gamines that draws you to them? This isn't me saying that they can't be sexy, ofc (I mean just look at San Choi and Eric Saade). I'm more of a N, SD, and TR (if he's moderate height) gal myself (I say as a DC). Love me a man with nice boy curves.
my theory is: we're drawn to body types that have the same bone structure as we do (e.g. sharp in your case), but the opposite vertical impression & different type of flesh.
SD & TR both have angular frames like you but yin flesh and a vastly different height range than classics. naturals are also yang, but! have blunt flesh, and are often taller than DCs, too. a bit similar, a bit different. the glue and the fascination.
... and what i like about gamines is a very long list! so let me indulge you. 💖
god, they are so fashionable (many of them don't even realize!). gamines have that yin-yang mix in their facial features and build, they have a style range no other type has.
next to bright winters and bright springs, their ability to do color pops is unmatched. my dramatic palette is more limited to contrasts, theirs is broader.
this body type is 100% anti-boredom because of the detail level they can carry. look up chungha's stage outfits (she's a soft gamine). i am in awe. they can do all the patterns ever.
david kibbe insists their stature is their charm point, he reiterates that very aggressively in his book, and he is right. our society makes shortness a drawback and calls petite people compensating tryhards, but me, i won't allow this slander in my house either!!!
gamines are always underestimated... and get their revenge in hollywood by beastmode-acting the house down. they are some of the most compelling, shocking, believable performers.
and even though the wise man role seems to be reserved for D/SD/FN, gamines will school us anew that they can be any portrayal, even a levitating green philosopher. range, again!
lotta people don't like the way i look - most pure dramatic women are the opposite of pretty, femme, curvy, docile, nonthreatening, nor smaller than guys. many also don't like how gamines are so tiny and unconventional-looking, and a seeming easy target on this hostile planet, either. but together we bond!! i have found that to people of this type, apparently i am a divine elven apparition from above. the love is mutual. 💞
gamines suffered more than jesus. the shit that life and authors make them go through... i will sue!!!! short people are not the world's punching bag!!! i am gamine defense central and i will not be stopped.
the conservative bubble fumes about it, but their androgynous appeal is something else. gamines ignore binary expectations just by existing. they are the best of both yin and yang worlds.
next to the romantics and soft dramatics, this type has the best pout among all types i swear. and they look so cool!
i wasn't a directioner, but i would have been such a niall girl. his SG-ness makes the ugliest christmas sweaters cute. he would light up my world like nobody else alright. i love yin on guys as well, and soft gamine got all of it.
you often see gamines dressing like D or DC types and vice versa. each one wants to integrate the other. we absorb the other's energy lmao! tomdaya are such an FG/D couple.
they are serving body, they are serving flair: just because gamines are below runway heights that doesn't prevent them from being daily life models and rulebreakers. guys can't wear scarves and need to freeze their butt off masculinely? i forgot what you just said because jung hoseok waltzed in like a slayer! 🧣
more than that, gamines tell us we can be anyone through styling. they are kibbe's true living metamorphosis.
they aren't just cutesy and made for comedic relief: gamines can be dark and severe and have a massive aura like D types.
leader charisma! claiming their space. katty, bossy, too much of everything? not to me. i like their energy. i'd rather see a girl with a giant attitude than someone with no defiant bone in their body.
other gamines have a sweet and uplifting appearance. i just have to look at any pictures of elijah wood being himself and my desolate day is better.
being a D type, my face is all prominent asymmetric features - not the usual, not conventionally attractive from any angle. G types often experience the same effect, our culture values symmetrical C traits the most after all. so, we bond over being built different literally. cousin itt is my certified long-haired husband!!
you can spot FGs by their rainbow hair from a mile away. no one else can rock dye like they do. the rest of us would look like fools.
and they do short-short hair like it's nothing. again, the rest of us look lacklustre with that: R and C is chin length hair, N and D is below the collar bone. yes, for guys, too. but they make buzzcuts their thing just like two-tone dyes.
yes, in my dramatic eyes, gamines are sexy to a fault. many people say some of them are hot but i say the majority of them have all the juice. their face cards make my eyes fall out. i don't get people who don't see their sexual presence cause whew! (remember taeyong's todoroki hair. most men would flop standing between taemin and kai)
i feel like because they are so diminutive, many romantics & gamines are forced to go the extra mile to be taken seriously. us dramatics get the opposite side of the coin, too tall, too thin, too lanky, too scary, too flat. but thanks to gamines, i see the other perspective. i am not too anything, i am the vampire queen! 🦇 and in life, we should place a bit less importance on "i am noticed, i am not noticed, i fit in, i don't" anyway.
my appreciation from a D perspective isn't "i'm jealous of their leg space!", cause leg space is a matter of companies. i'm just enamored with gamines than violently envious. because is peppering them with kisses fine? in that case, the smoochery will begin 💋💋💋 (an SD/FG couple here)
maybe mother is mothering, cause freud would laugh when i said gamines are so dear to me and i want to protect the babies with my scary gothly presence. (love how he inherited gomez' beard and a spider web jacket lmao)
i have a more languid way of walking, courtesy of overtly long dramatic legs. gamines are fast and agile. they can become great dancers because of that. this type navigates the world so differently. y'all and they dance so sassily 😏
it's cute to look down in their huge doe eyes. those yin facial features mixed with sexy sharpness. who didn't fall for logan lerman's puppy gaze back then. from audrey hepburn to byun baekhyun i just love my gamines!!

Long hair frames the face and softens it to a more rounded shape, obscuring the lines of the jaw. It can also obfuscate the shoulder/neck area. Having 'big' or ruffled hair can also make your body look more petite in comparison.
While, the shorter you go, the boxier the lines will be. It's very difficult for anyone to pull off a super-short haircut because it lacks fluidity and shape and is rarely flattering. On the flipside, if you have a nice jawline, neck and shoulders, a short haircut can be much more striking than long hair.
I'll say that bob-length (usually the shortest a female idol ever goes) creates the same rounded shape in the face as long hair. One thing is a bob won't drag you down physically/make you look as short as longer hair would.
Jeongyeon is one of the few female idols who had actually short hair. You can see the difference in the shape and the effect it has.
Longer hair detracts from your jaw. Bangs have a similar effect. They add volume to the top of your head (forehead) which in turn makes your chin seem smaller.
When it comes to balancing, yin-dominant people look better with short hair and vice versa for yang people. Short hair suits smaller, more compact people while long hair emphasizes yang vertical. For Gamines, short hair is explicitly recommended.
Nayeon
I think Nayeon looks best with a not too long, not too short haircut. Around shoulder-length. Any shorter, I don't think it emphasizes her beauty as much. Her long hair can be good, but too long, and it drags her down.
Boram
From T-ARA, for the youngins. Boram is a good example of a gamine who adheres to recommendations. Bangs make her hair seem shorter and breaks up her face shape, and even when she has longer hair, it's usually tied back so it isn't too heavy.
Soyeon
This may just be me, but Soyeon with long hair... I feel like something's missing! With her hair shorter, it looks so much livelier and suits her perfectly. I don't always love the way she's styled with a bob, but I think she looks most jaw-dropping with short hair.
Choa
Choa, again, shows how gamines can transform with a short haircut. With her short hair, she appears youthful, almost fairy-like and more distinctive. While, the longer hair can get in the way and just muddies her face, neck, etc and honestly looks a bit childish.
Minzy
Like Choa, Minzy also benefits from shorter hair. It's a huge difference. She seems more 'lifted' and striking.
Chaewon
Chaewon is interesting--like Choa, part of her identity (in Lesserafim at least) is having short hair, which adds to her doll-like features. She wears it nicely, but she also looks great with long hair. I wonder if it may be fatigue from seeing her with short hair a lot of the time, so her long hair seems more striking. Either way, she looks good in both.
You might say some (or all) of these female idols look better with long hair... some of that may be societal norms of women having long hair, but no matter what, gamines are recommended short hair not because they all look much prettier with it... but gamine outfit recommendations simply don't work with long hair. The visual staccato effect of broken up lines is affected with long hair in the way.
So what does being a gamine entail exactly. Like am I just a gamine or can I be different types of gamin? If so, how do I figure out what type of gamine I am?
first the essential characteristics, explained with yoongi since he’s quite a representative of the type.
combination of opposing features (e.g. soft face muscular limbs)
impression of petite height, gamines appear small and cute especially next to other types, it’s their trademark feature
square/straight body type, somewhat narrow
won’t have a pronounced waistline like romantic types/SDs/SNs, they can be compact, slightly wide
doll-like or youthful face, button nose, often very luminous eyes and squishy cheeks
head appears larger than their frame by proportion where they might be otherwise very skinny and nimble-looking unless when gaining weight
most at home in grunge type of fashion with unexpected material mixes, geometric patterns, distressed look, tomboy/boyish kind of clothes, all things alternative think kurt cobain or fka twigs, lot of prints
gamines are the type that can push the envelope the most because they are refreshing, different, and androgynous, tolerate lots of detailing. if you have both yin and yang features, anything is possible. contrasting tailoring, extreme colors, no problem.
they radiate a sassy attitude, get typecast as comedic roles, outcasts, rebels, high school sweethearts, the peter parkers out there, 1920s flappers, fashion killers. gamines are the most successful at experimenting with clothing genres and most costumes.
the type they differ the most from: flamboyant naturals, who are the most towering kibbe type and sturdy people like namjoon. where gamines are the smallest and cutest type, FNs are the tallest and radiate matureness + authority visually because of yang.
they appear down to earth (unlike dramatics who are high fashion and out of the ordinary like gamines), strong, and the guy/gal next door, and can experiment less with color and pattern but rather dress monochromely with rough materials. FNs look like action heroes, sportspeople, and bodyguards. think idris elba, their frame is HUGE.
put them next to each other and you can spot the gamine immediately. they look like the youngest sibling next to the parent 😂 gamines stay forever young. flamboyant naturals always look more settled and struggle pulling off trendy statements. while gamines, they are the trend.
it’s universally the most recognized height difference. like johnny and haechan + mark:
or baekhyun and chanyeol:
and yep, you have three subtypes in that category! to further specify it, some gamines have more yin and some more yang.
soft gamine (extra soft flesh) — limbs are even shorter, a bit of a waist can show, way more rounded, lush or chubby facial features and arms, the most petite kibbe type, wider cheekbones and build / e.g. woozi
pure gamine (the middle) — narrow and slightly elongated while at the same time delicate and rounded in the face, lean, leggy / e.g. taehyun
flamboyant gamine (extra sharpness in the bones) — squarer, sometimes broader, very angular/lean, can appear a bit taller, more chiseled and elongated in the face, pronounced cheekbones and nose / e.g. hobi
Yoongi's best hairstyle (and colors?) based on Kibbe and color analysis?
yong’s white hair with the easy breezy ear-length cut defo knocked it out of the park. it’s rec’d for gamine body types to experiment with heavy dye and layered bangs, plus the right balance of control VS ruffledness. so, this one is among the hall of fame. my is he a sexy short king.
Hi caro ❤ can u please tell me if hong Yong gi is a soft gamine or a romantic cause I am really short and never could choose between these two thanks a lot ❤❤❤
hong young gi is a soft gamine as well 👍
how to distinguish GAMINES / ROMANTICS
to give you a comparison between the types. romantics are usually a little bit less petite- and ‘ageless’-seeming, you see the curves and width first. hwasa is a perfect case. you can see how curvy and hourglass she is right away. the bones are short, but the figure is full and rounded, both the face and torso and limbs.
soft gamines: they could be a tad taller than a romantic and still seem tiny. it’s the most tomboy, ‘forever young’ kind of kibbe type. you don’t see curves, they’re often very slim, in kpop more often than not. IU is a textbook soft gamine. the difference to hwasa couldn’t be any more visible in airport pictures. most soft gamines look like they’re no way into their 20s, romantics never would. the frame is more straight and narrow even if the face can be very full.
the classic comparison is gaga and beyoncé. have a guess, who’s the romantic and who’s the gamine 😄

Should famine types like yoongi , dawn or jhope bulk up and build muscle to look better or stay thin and androgynous looking ?
i refute the should type of thinking since they look good either how, rather it’s useful to understand what working out causes gamine body types to look like.
flamboyant gamine - may already look a bit muscular, but sinewy. a yang undercurrent means both dramatic and natural elements, the latter is responsible for broadness. however, they will remain streamlined. abs and underarms will be extremely flat, upper arms become substantial. the face seemingly looks even younger by contrast.
pure gamine - working out won’t bulk them up immensely since they’re on the narrow side. their muscle gain is rather unpredictable since they are such a mix of lines. their arms will look angular (wrist, elbow), soft, and muscular at the same time. the torso becomes bluntly squared but still remain taut.
soft gamine - will have a very hard time gaining muscles in the first place. their limbs are short so a little still goes a long way, however, since the muscle doesn’t distribute over a long area. looks trim and thick very quickly. their bulkiness always looks really soft and wide rather than chiseled. it’s in stark contrast to their baby face. the waist becomes very small by proportion, e.g. woozi.
