Fan-written 40k articles now look like this, analyzing the GW-approved competitive terrain layouts, made out of clear plastic rectangles so that the line of sight blocking terrain doesn't accidentally block your line of sight.

A few years ago 40k players started swapping to cutout wooden terrain (unpainted) so the terrain is all a standardized shape and size. It was hideous enough, but now they're just using plastic rectangles.

They should just make the last step and use plastic cylinders for their infantrymen and cubes for their tanks, so the models are all the same size and silhouette.

The most interesting part of this is how directly the game they have created conflicts with every single aesthetic and assumption behind the last four decades of the game.
