Ziahra (left) is a nymph/muse, Galvanik (right) is a necromancer. Their positions are metaphorical were Ziahra is a persona of illustration and Nik rules over the subject of animation. Sounds unusual but hey, it may help an artist like me to get their craft organised. Iāve used these two for my portfolio class three years ago as character design examples. Two characters is enough to see contrast: light and dark, offensive and defensive ect.
Ziahra is a portmanteau of two names, Zia and Zara. Zia is Persian meaningĀ ālightā, Zahra is Arabic meaningĀ ābeautifulā orĀ ābright, or Zara which is Hebrew/Russian meaningĀ āPrincessā. Ā Hence the fused name saysĀ ābeautiful lightā.Ā
Galvanik is also a portmanteau. The word āgalvaniseā means to stimulate muscles by use of direct current, obviously electricity; think of Dr. Frankenstein or defibrillators. Galvan is an Irish/Gaelic name meaningĀ ābrilliantly whiteā and because Galvanik has pale skin like a dead corpse.Ā
And by the looks of them, they donāt look human...but they were...formerly.Ā
