Jolly skeletons having a good time for this obi sold by antique store Modoribashi (they are on tumblr!).
This scene reminds me of those two tales I posted awhile ago with the skeletons friends and the drinking ghost - perfect for kaidan (ghost tales) summer fun :)

Rare design for this chilling summer hikizuri (long skirt kimono). From the pale lavender ground, blooms akikusa (autumn plants) while a skeleton emerges from the haze. The discarded and rotten itatoba (buddhist wooden grave tablets) seems to indicate that this scene takes place in a cemetery - or at least by a lonely grave.
This late summer/early autumn kimono is definitely a striking conversation piece and was probably worn by a Geisha.

The Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These franchise's official website posted a teaser trailer for the sequel and film trilogy, Gaikotsu. The first picture, produced by Production I.G, is due to premiere in Japanese theatres on March 4, with the subsequent two films following on April 1 and May 13, respectively.
